THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
BY-LAW 85-140
being a by-law to appoint an Acting Mayor
WHEREAS Section 72(3) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O., 1980, Chapter
302, authorizes the Council of a Municipality to appoint an Acting
Mayor;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle
deems it expedient to appoint a Member of the Council to act from
time-to-time in the place and stead of the Head of Council when the
Head of Council is absent from the Municipality or absent through
illness or his office is vacant and, while so acting, such Member
has and may exercise all the rights, powers and authority of the
Head of Council.
NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:
1. THAT Councillor Ann Cowman is hereby appointed as Acting Mayor of
the Town of Newcastle for the period ending November 30th 1986;
2. THAT this By-law shall take effect immediately on the passing
thereof and continue in force until November 30th 1986 unless
sooner amended or repealed.
