HomeMy WebLinkAbout85-128 THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE BY-LAW 85- 128 being a by-law to designate the property known municipally as the "Tyrone Blacksmith Shop", Village of Tyrone as being of Architectural and Historical value or interest WHEREAS The Ontario Heritage Act, 1974, authorizes the Council of a municipality to enact by-laws to designate real property, including all the buildings and structures thereon, to be of architectural or historical interest; and WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle has caused to be served upon the owner of the lands and premises known as the IITyrone Blacksmith Shop II located in the south-west corner of Lot 8, Concession 7, former Township of Darlington, and upon the Ontario Heritage Foundation, Notice of Intention to Designate the aforesaid real property, and has caused such notice of intention to be published in the Canadian Statesman, a newspaper having a general circulation in the municipality, once each week for three consecutive weeks, namely; September 25th, October 2nd and October 9th 1985; and WHEREAS the property located in the south-west corner of Lot 8; Concession 7, former Township of Darlington, has a very significant architectural and historical value of interest to the Town of Newcastle and its people in that the property is a fine example of mid-nineteenth century stonework which remains almost unchanged since it was built and also because it has become a landmark in the Village of Tyrone. The entire structure and its interior and exterior fittings are designated as being of architectural and historical value. WHEREAS the Local Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee of the Town of Newcastle has recommended that the property, IITyrone Blacksmith Shop" be designated under the terms and conditions of the Ontario Heritage Act, 1974; and WHEREAS no notice of objection to the proposed designation has been served upon the Clerk of the municipality; NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS: 1. There is designated as being of Architectural and Historical value of interest, the real property known as the "Tyrone Blacksmith Shop II located in the south-west corner of Lot 8, Concession 7, former Township of Darlington, now in the Town of Newcastle, and more particularly described as being Part 2 on Reference Plan 10R-1181, deposited on September 11th 1980 in the Land Registry Division of Newcastle (No. 10). 2. The~Municipal Solicitor is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this By-law to be registered against the property described in the preceeding paragraph in the proper land registry office. 3. The Town Clerk is hereby authorized to cause a copy of this By-law to be served upon the owner of the aforesaid property and on the Ontario Heritage Foundation, and to cause notice of the passing of this by-law to be published in the Canadian Statesman, a newspaper having a general circulation in the municipality, once each week for three consecutive weeks. By-law read a first and second time this 4th day of November 1985.
