BY-LAW NO. 74-60 A by-law to adopt the estimates of all sums required during the year and to strike the rates of taxation for the year 1974. WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle, has, in accordance with the Municipal Act, considered the astimates of the Municipality and of the Boards and Commissions of the Municipality an~it is necessary that the following sums be raised by means of taxation for the year 1974: General Purposes Area Rates Regional Purposes Public School Separate School High School $1,254,685. 165,697. 663,195. 1,213, OIL 56,443. 1,027,51l. $4,380,542. Street Lighting B. Rental of Fire Hydrants C. Garbage Collection D. Storm Sewers shall be levied on the taxable assessment of the area to which they apply. THEREFORE the.Counci1 of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle enacts as follows: 1, That the total estimates required during the year 1974 totalling $6,593,860. be adopted and the following amounts be levied therefore in the manner as set out hereinafter: - General Purposes Area Rates Regional Purposes Public School Separate School High School $1,254,685. 165,697. 663,195. 1,213,011. 56,443. 1,027,511 $4,380,542. 2. All taxes, including all local improvement assessments, shall be deemed to have been imposed and become due and payable on the 1st day of January, 1974, but may be paid in four instalments, of which instalments, two will be to receive interim taxes levied under authority of By-Law No. 74-23. 4. The remaining taxes, including local improvement assessments, after deduction of taxes levied prior to the adoption of these estimates may be paid in two instalments on the 1st day of October, 1974, and the 2nd day of December, 1974. . There shall be imposed a penalty for non-payment of taxes on the due date of any instalment thereof, the amount of 1% of the amount due and unpaid on the first day of default and an additional penalty of 1% shall be added on the first day of each calender month thereafter in which default continues, but not after the end of the year in which the taxes are levied, under authority of By-Law 74-19. 6. The Collector is hereby authorized to mail or cause to be mailed the notice.of taxes due to the address of the residence or place of business of the person to whom notice is required to be given. 7. All 1974 taxes shall be paid during the calendar year of 1974 at any branch of the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in the Regional Municipality of Durham and Town of Port Hope only. All prior yeers taxes shall be paid into the Office of the Treasurer. 8. The Collector and Treasurer are hereby emp: owered to accept part payment from time to time on account of any taxes due, 9. This by-law shall come into force and effect upon the date of the final reading thereof. .
