THE CORPORATION OF THE
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
By -Law No. 74-1
A by -law to provide .interim rules of
procedure.
BE IT ENACTED as a by -law of The Corporation of the Town of Newcastle:
THAT pending, the adoption of the fornal by -laws governing the
proceedings of Council the following rules and regulations will apply: -
(a) All by -laws, resolutions and motions may be introduced by
any member of Council without notice thereof being first given and the
votes may be taken thereon at the meeting at which the same are introduced.
(b) Such resolutions or motions mist be in writing and be formally
seconded before the question is put by the Mayor or the resolution or
motion is recorded in the minutes.
(c) With the approval of the Council any by -law may receive three
readings and be finally passed on the same,day.
(d) The Mayor may at any time summon a special meeting of Council
to be held at such date, time and place as the Mayor shall determine
provided that the Mayor shall give to each member of Council at least
forty -eight hours notice of the date, time and place of the meeting and
shall preside at the meeting,.
