CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
40 TEMPERANCE STREET
BOWMANVILLE, ONTARIO
LC3A6 TELEPHONE 623-3379
REPORT TO COUNCIL MEETING HELD MARCH 26 1984
ADMIN. 33 - 84
SUBJECT: JOB DESCRIPTION FOR LEAD HAND IN THE
COMMUNITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT
RECOMMENDATIONS:
It is respectfully recommended that Council:
1. Receive this report; and
2. Adopt Community Services ReportCS-02-84as amended by the
General Purpose and Administration Committee meeting
on March 19 1984.
BACKGROUND AND COMMENT:
As a result of discussions at the General Purpose and Administration
Committee meeting of March 19th 1984, staff were asked to investigate
whether in fact it was necessary for the successful applicant to be in
possession of a valid Class "A" drivers licence. In this regard staff
reviewed the criteria published by M.T.C. and are of the opinion that
a Class "A" licence is appropriate as a qualification for the position.
From time to time, the successful candidate will be required to drive
vehicles where a trailer is attached and where the gross vehicle weight
exceeds 4600 kg. (10,000 pounds). It would, therefore, seem appropriate
that the Lead Hand be in possession of a Class "A" licence.
For the information of Council members, I have attached an excerpt
from a publication by the Ministry of Transportation and Communications
concerning Class "A" licences.
Respectfully submitted,
DSJ:nof David Johnst.- I. P.,
Chief Administrative Officer
