HomeMy WebLinkAbout10/03/1968 HAMPTON, OCTOBER 3, 1968. 68-10-5 Darlington Township Council met in the Municipal Building on this date, all Members present, Reeve Muir presiding. Moved by Councillor Gibbs and Deputy Reeve Down that the minutes of the meeting held September 5, 1968, be approved as read. Moved by Councillor Gibbs and Deputy Reeve Down that Road Accounts for the month of September 1968, in the amount of $55,212.12 as approved by the Road Committee, be paid. Moved by Deputy Reeve Down and Councillor Gibbs that the Boy Scouts District Council is granted permission to sell apples and tags in Maple Grove and Hampton on October 26, as requested. Moved by Councillor Dow and Deputy Reeve Down that this Council approves the Oshawa Are? Planning and Development Study on the understanding that this ar~on will be subject to review when estimates of the cost of the study are available and prior to agreement as to sharing of the costs. Moved by Councillors Gibbs and Brown that a provision contained in a conveyance made July 12, 1957 and registered on Oct. 16, 1957, as Number 4684, is considered no longer necessary or desirable and whereas this Council has been requested to execute a release of that agreement, the Reeve and Clerk are hereby authorized to execute a release as aforesaid, and to affix the Corporate Seal thereto. Moved by Councillors Gibbs and Drown that this Council petition the Ontario Department of Highways for payment of interim subsidy on an expenditure of $276,701.79. Moved by Councillor Gibbs and Deputy Reeve Down that the Ontario Department of Highways be advised of this Council's estimate of 1969 expenditure based on a road rate of 18 mills, as recommended by the Township's Road ~rogramming Study. Moved by Councillors Dow and Brown that Dr. Keith SIemon, Chairman of a Citizens Committee, be advised that it is the decision of this Council that the Committee's request that Council conduct a referendum at the time of the Civic Election, to determine whether or not the ratepayers of this Township are in favour of the issuing of debentures to assist in financing the cost of including an auditorium, indoor swimming pool and an outdoor skating rink, as part 'or' thepropillsilld High Scnoilll ,in..Bowmanv:i.l:l.e ,c:.ispcons1<dg:;ed.il11mll3cessary, therefore the Committee's request will not be granted. Moved by Councillors Gibbs and Dow that the Road Superintendent and Clerk are authorized to prepare specifications and call for tenders for the supply of a motor grader, equipped with snow plow and wing.
