Hampton, October 6th, 1966.
Darlington Township Council met in the Municipal Building on
this date. Councillors Budai, Down and Gibbs present, Deputy Reeve Muir
in the chair for the opening of the meeting.
Moved by Councillors Budai and Gibbs that the minutes of the
meetings held September 15th, and October 3rd, 1966, be adopted as
read.
Moved by Councillors Gibbs and Down that Road accounts for
the month of September 1966 in the amount of $78,602.96 as approved
by the Roads Committee be paid.
At this point Reeve Blanchard took the chair.
Mr. S. E. White, and Mr. McLennan and Mr. C. Mitchinson,
representing the Township's insurers attended to discuss the Township
liability insurance.
Moved by Deputy ReeVe Muir and Councillor Gibbs that the
tender of Seaway Motors (1965)jLtd. to supply a 5 ton truck, cab and
chassis is accepted as rendered subject to the approval of the Ontario
Department of Highways.
Moved by Councillors Down and Budai that the Bowmanville
District Council of the Boy Scouts of Canada are authorized to conduct
their annual appl~ day in Hampton and Maple Grove on Saturday,
October 15th, 1966.
Moved by Deputy Reeve Muir and Councillor Budai that the
matter of securing additional sites for garbage disposal be referred
to the property Committee for recommendation.
Moved by CounCillor Budai and Deputy Reeve Muir that copies
of major reports be forwarded to the Ontario Central Joint Planning
Board.
Moved by Councillors Down and Budai that a report on the
Ambulance Services Act be received and filed for information of the
Ambulance Committee.
Moved by Councillor Budai and Deputy Reeve Muir that the
Reeve and Councillor Down be delegates to the Clean Water Conference
in Peterborough on October 19th, 1966.
Moved by Councillors Budai and Gibbs that Rule 33 be
suspended for the duration of this meeting.
11 & 12 On motions as filed a By-law to amend an agreement with the
Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement Act was given its several
readings, signed, sealed and numbered 2342.
Moved by CounCillors Gibbs and Budai that this Council approves
the form of a draft agreement for use of part of lot 19, Concession 3,
as a disposal site, and directs that a copy of the draft be forwarded
to the owner for approval.
Moved by CounCillors Budai and Down that this Council consider
the passing of a By-law at its regular meeting to be held on Thursday,
November 17th, 1966 at 1:30 p.m. for the purpose of widening, diverting
and improving that part of the original allowance for road between
concessions one and two in the Township of Darlington, through part of
lots 32 and 33 in the said first and second concessions and to expropriate
certain lands in Lots 32 and 33 in the 1st and 2nd concessions of the
said Township of Darlington? and that the Clerk to be instructed to
publish in The Canadian Sta~esman and post up such notices as may be
required therefor.
AND FURTHER RESOLVED that the Township Solicitor be instructed
to prepare the necessary By-law.
Moved by Deputy Reeve Muir and Councillor Gibbs that this
Council consider at its regular meeting to be held on Thursday,
November 17th, 1966, at 1:30 p.m. a By-law for the closing and sale
of those parts of original allowances for road between lots 12 and 13
(the extention southerly of Scugog Road) and between lots 14 and 15
(known as Martin's Road) in the Broken Front Concession of the Township
of Darlington and lying southerly of the Canadian National Railway and
that the Clerk be instructed to publish in the Canadian Statesman
and post up such notices as may be required therefor.
AND FURTHER RESOLVED that the Township Solicitor be instructed
to prepare the necessary By-law.
Moved by CounCillors Down and Budai that this Council hereby
adopts By-law 2289, passed on January 11th, 1965.

Moved by Councillors Down and Budai that the estimates of cost
for this Township's Centennial Project be, and are hereby amended by
deleting an item of $1,500.00 for clerical expenses, and adding thereto
an item of $1,500.00 for the purChase and erection of a suitable
plaque to identify the project, and for contingencies.
Moved by Councillors Budai and Down that this meeting adjourn.
