MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL -- November 13. 1972
.
Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m.
Present were: Reeve Alfred Gray, Councillors F. Couch, F. Hoar,
K. Barr and Brenton Rickard.
Res. 231 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that the minutes of meetings held October lOth and 17th be
adopted as printed. Carried.
The Clerk was instructed to reply to a letter from LI.yd Realty
Limited advising them that the drainage in Orchard Heights
subdivision is still a problem and that Council wish to wait
until Spring before a recision is reached in releasing the
remainder of the retainer held by the Village.
Res. 232 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Rickard
that the Clerk write a letter to the Library Board stating that
Insurance coverage on the books and contents of the Library has
been reviewed with Frank Cowan Company Limited, who have advised
that on a replacement value of $19,000 the annual premium would
be $114.44. Council have requested that the Library Board consider
this proposed coverage and advise of their decision. Carried.

Res. 233 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that
permission be granted to Irvin and Jean McCullough to separate
60 feet by 165 feet from registered lot number 32 fronting on
Church street in the Village of NeWCastle, subject to the approval
of the Planning Branch. Ministry of Treasury, Ec.nomics and Inter-
governmental Affairs. Carried.
Mr. Sam Brereton submitted a report of Recreation equipment and
replacement value for review as to Insurance Coverage. Frank Cowan
Company to be contacted as to premium cost and the Recreation
Committee advised.

A Joint meeting of Council with the Planning Board was set for
Tuesday, November 21st at 7.30 p.m. The Clerk was to advise ltr. I.
Milani, Stanley Gujda, ~Yeret Vierhout and John DeJong as well as
Kenneth Lyall that this meeting was to be a work-shop meeting
and therefore would be closed to the public.
Res. 234 Moved by Councillor Couc~, Seconded by Councillor Rickard
that accounts amounting to $17,308.10 be approved for payment. Carried.
Res. 235 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councill.r Barr that
reports of the Fire, Health and Building Departments be accepted.
Carried.
Res. 236 Movea by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that By-Law 72-14 being a by-law to amend Seotion B of Building
By-Law 785 to amend Building Permit fees be read a first time. Carried.
Res. 237 Moved by Councillor Barr, Seoonded by Councillor Couch
that By-Law 72-14 be read a second time. Carried.
Res. 238 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr that
By-LaW 72-14 be read a third time and finally passed. Carried.
Res. 239 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Couch
that the new Building Permit Fees be advertised in the Reporter the
first and second weeks in December. Carried.

The Clerk was instructed to write to the Health Department to request
that an inspection be made of the premises occupied by Tomas Martin
on King Street East.
Res. 240 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by CounciJlor Hoar that
Kenneth Gray be appointed to the Recreation Committee for the balance
of 1972. Carried.
Applications for the position of Clerk-Treasurer and Tax Collector
were read to Council. These applications will receive consideration
at a later date.
