MINUTES OF REGULAR ~lliETING OF COUNCIL - October lOth. 1972
Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m.
.
Present were: Reeve Alfred Gray, Councillors Fred Couch,
Frank Hoar, Keith Barr and Brenton Rickard.
Res. 214 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that minutes of meetings held September 11th and 19th be adopted
as printed. Carried.
Mr. I. Milani spoke to Council regarding Council's decision to
accept 5% of the land contained in his proposed subdivision, or
the equivalent in cash. This will be reviewed further with the
Planning Board before a decision is reached.
Mr. & Mrs. Staby spoke to Council for permission to build a
home on their property on Park Street. This also, was referred
to the Planning Board. They were advised that a decision would
be made by November l)th.
Res. 215 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that
Roy Hopkins resignation from the Recreation Committee be accepted
with regret. Carried.

Res. 217 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seoonded by Councillor Barr
that Council concur with the resolution of the Town of Whitby
regarding required guidelines for Arenas in Bill 90. Carried.
Res. 218 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that letters from M. D. Trewin, E. R. Lovekin, County Board of
Education, City of Pembroke and Mrs. Lewis Clark be filed. Carried.
Res. 219 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that accounts amounting to $)),946.)7 be approved for payment. Carr 'd.
Res. 220

reports of the Fire and Building Departments be accepted.

Res. 221 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Couch
that Bell Canada be advised that the draft copy of a lease has
been reviewed and accepted by Council. Carried.
Res. 222 Moved by Councillor Barr, SeConded by Councillor Hoar that
the Provincial Municipal Affairs Department and the Plans Administr-
ation Branch of the Ministry of Treasury, Economics and Intergovernm-
ental Affairs be advised that the Village of Newcastle is presently
in the course of preparing its planning and do not wish to consider
any more plans until the Village Planning is completed. Carried.
The Clerk was instructed to arrange a meeting with Barber & Kelly,
Solicitors, for either October 17th or 24th.
Res. 223 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor HOar
that the Royal Canadian Legion members be granted permission to
sell poppies in Newcastle for Remembrance Day, November 11th. Carr'd.
Res. 224 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr that
Remembrance Day Services on NOvember 11th be advertised and that a
wreath be purchased by the Village. Carried.

ReS. 226 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Couch
that David Lawrence be appointed to the Reoreation Committee for the
remainder of 1972. Carried.
Res. 227 Moved by C.uncill.r Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr that
the meeting adjourn. Carried. ~~
