MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF OOUNCIL - September 11th. 1972
Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m.
Present were: Reeve Alfred Gray, Councillors Fred Couch, Keith Barr,
Frank Hoar and Brenton Rickard.
Res. 194 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that the minutes of meetings held August 14th and 24th be adopted
as printed. Carried.
Stanley Gujda spoke to Council with regard to a plan of subdivision
in the north-west section of the Village. As part of his proposed
subdivision is in the Township of Clarke, and negotiations for an
easement with O.W.R.C. has not been finalized, Council advised him
that no consideration could be given to his proposed plan at this
time.
Jim Stephenson spoke to Council re~rding drainage near his property
on George Street. Reeve Gray will inspect the area in question.
Dirk Biersteker advised Council of the conditionof the covers on
the fire wells in various parts of the Village. New concrete tops
for these wells will be ordered. In connection with the building
of the new Fire Hall, the Reeve informed Mr. Biersteker that no
plans have been made for commencing construction this year, but
that the Village would inquire as to Provincial grants for this
project.
Res. 195 Moved by Oouncillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr that
the Fire Department be given permission to display a sign advertising
Muscular Dystrophy on the front of the Community Hall, subject to
the approval of the Hall Board. Carried.
The Clerk was instructed to acknowledge letters from the Highland Creek
branch of the Canadian Legion, Cooper Jppraisal and Frank Cowan
Company Limited.
In order to deal with several items of business, the Clerk was
instructed to call a special meeting of Council for Tuesday, Septmmber
19th at 7.30 p.m.
Res. 196 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Couch
that accounts amounting to $6,931.33 be approved for payment. Carried.
Res. 197 Moved by Councillor Barr, Seconded by Councillor Rickard
that the Building Inspector be advised to put a "stop-Work Order" on
the house being built by Edward Barchard on Church StEeet South and
that he be advised to submit plans for anproval and apply for a new
building permit. Carried.
Res. 198 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that
the reports of the Fire Dept., Building Dept and Health Dept be
accepted. Carried.
Quotations for the supplying of Oil to municipal buildings were
received from Imperial Oil, Texaco Canada and Gulf Oil.

Res. 200 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that Walter Hale and Harold Couch be invited to attend a special
mmeting of Council on Tuesday, September 19th at 7.30 p.m. to discuss
their tBnders for Garbage Pick-Up. Carried.
Res. 201 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that
authorization be given for petition for subsidy on Road Expenditures.
Carried.
Res. 202 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Barr that
Council rescind the motion #192 passed by Council on August 24th
pertaining to the oversizing of the Rudell Road and SUBset Boulevard
pumping stations. Carried.

Res. 203 Moved by Counciller Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that Milani & Milani Holdings Limited be advised that motion No. 192
passed at a meeting of Council on August 24th has been rescinded and
Council have been advised by the Ministry of the Environment that
unless a cheque for $4,000. is received immediately from the developer,
Milani & Milani, for the approximate cost of the oversizing of the
Rudell Road and Sunset Boulevard pu mping stations, no assurance for
the oversizing of the said pumping stations will be included in the
Sewage Project when it is advertised for tender." Carried.
Res. 204 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Couch that
Haynes Printing be approved for the printing of the Voters List
for 1972. Carried.
Res. 205 Moved by Counciller Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that permission be granted to Banksia Investments Limited to separate
a parcel of land 218' x 200' in Part of Township lot 27, Concession 2,
Village of Newcastle, subject to the approval of the Ministry of
Treasury, Economics and Intergovernmental Affairs. Carried.
Res. 206 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
