MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL - June 19th. 1972
.
Meeting was held in the Counoil Chambers at 7 p.m.
Present were: Reeve Alfred R. Gray, Councillors Frank Hoar,
Brenton Rickard, Keith Barr and Fred Couch.
Res. 153
Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seoonded by Councillor Barr
that By-Law No. 72-9 being a by-law to authorize the
sale of land be read a first time. Carried.
Res. 154
Moved by Councillor Couch, Seoonded by Councillor Rickard
that By-Law No. 72-9 be read a second time. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that By-Law No. 72-9 be read a third time and finally
passed. Carried.
Res. 155

Council met with a committee of the Lions Club and Mr. Harry Jose
to discuss the proposed plans for the swimming pool and Athletic
Park. The meeting was for discussion only and n. decisions were
made.
The Village of Newcastle was defined as a Planning Area by the
Minister under date of May 16th, 1972 as foll.ws:
"In accordance with the provisions of sections 2 and 4 of the
Planning Act, I hereby:
(a) Define all of the Village of Newcastle, as from time
to time constituted, as a planning area to be known as
the "Newcastle Planning Area", and
(b) Designate the name of the planning board for the Newcastle
Planning Area to be the "Newcastle Planning Board".

Subjeot to the above designation, the Council of the Village of
Newcastle appointed the following members to the "Newcastle
Planning Board":
Res. 156 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor
Couch that Keith Barr and Frank Hoar be app.inted as
Council's representatives on the "Newcastle Planning
Board". Carried.
Res. 157 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor
Hoar that Murray Paterson be appointed to the
"Newcastle Planning Baard" for a three year term, 1972,
1973 and 1974. Carried.

Res. 158 Moved by Councill.r Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that Roger Yates be app.inted to the "Newcastle Planning
Board" for a two year term, 1972 and 1973. Carried.
Res. 159 Moved by Councillor Couch, Se~onded by Councillir RiCkard
that Douglas Cunningham be appointed to the "Newcastle
Planning Board" for a two year term, 1972 and 1973. Carried.
Res. 160 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that Louis Swinghammer be appointed to the "Newcastle
Planning Board" for a one year term, 1972. Carried.
Res.
In addition, the head of the Council, by virtue of his
office, is a member of the "Newcastle Planning Board".
