IVJ.INUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL - June 12th, 1972
Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m.

Present were: Reeve Alfred Gray, Councillors Fred Couch, Keith Barr,
Frank Hoar and Br~on Rickard.
Res. 1)) Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that minutes of meetings held May 8th, 15th, 16th and June 6th
be adopted as printed. Carried.

Mr. Stommel addressed Council on behalf of a petition signed by
residents of Westview Heights subdivision regarding the condition
of the boundary road west of Newcastle. The Reeve a dvised Mr.
Stommel that ditches and the road in question were in the process
of being repaired.
Res. 1)4 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Couch that
Mr. Louis Stonehouse application for a building permit be approved
by Council. Carried.
Res. 1)5 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that the Lions Club be granted permission to hold a draw on Civic
Holiday in Newcastle. Carried.
Res. 1)6 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Couch
that a donation of $100.00 be given to the Lions Club to assist
in the Fire Works Display at the Newcastle Ball Park on July 1st.

Res. 1)7 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that a donation of $50.00 be given to the Horticultural Society
and that a letter of appreciation be sent to this organization
for the excellent work being done each year to beautify the
Village. Carried.
Res. 138 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that the Village of Newcastle accept with appreciation the monies
donated to the Newcastle Youth Organization in memory of the late
Bruce Tillson, this money to be deposited in a Trust Account at
the bank and that a letter of acknowledgment be sent to Mrs. Tillson
and family. Carried.
Mr. Pat Blaker spoke to Council on behalf of the Lions Club to
inform them on the proposed project to establish a swimming pool
in the Village of Newcastle. The pool proposed is of olympic
size, 84' x 42' , 25 meters and heated. In order to discuss plans
for the location of the pool, it was deoided that Council would
call a meeting for Monday, June 19th at 7.)0 p.m. and that Mr.
Harry Jose be requested to attend the meeting as land owned by
Mr. Jose has been suggested as a site for such a project.
Res. 1)9 Moved by Councillor COUCh, Seconded by Councillor Rickard
that By-Law 72-11 being a by-law for the administration of the
Bond Head Cemetery of the Village of Newcastle be read a first
time. Carried.
Res. 140 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that By-Law 72-11 be read a second time. Carried.
Res. 141 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor
Couch that By-Law 72-11 be read a third time and finally passed. ".
Carried.

Res. 142 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that the present Bond Head Cemei~~ ~g~ad carryon for the balance
of 1972 under the heading "The tj"l!blEltery Board of The Xillage of
I of of Newcastle". Carried.
The Clerk was instructed to write letters to the Synod of the
Diocese of the Anglican Church of Canada, the Bond Head Cemetery
Board, the Newcastle Anglican Church and the Lions Club, express-
ing Council's appreciation to the Cemetery Board and the Lions
Club representatives whose efforts, without remuneration, have
restored this Cemetery to its present excellent condition; the
letters to the Synod and the Newcastle Anglican Church to express
Council's acknowledgmBnt of the transfer of the Cemetery to
the Village.

that accounts amounting to $11,179.16 be approved for payment.

Res. 145 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that By-Law No. 72-8, being a by-law requiring a parcel of land
for municipal purposes be read a first time. Carried.

Res. 146 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Couch
that By-Law No. 72-8 be read a second time. Carried.
Res. 147 Moved by Councillor Barr, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that By-Law No. 72-8 be read a third time and finally passed. Carried.
Res. 148 Moved by Councillor Rickard, Seconded by Councillor Couch
that permission be granted to Smldon Parker, President of Tampa
Farms Limited, to separate 40'$t x()~~Sf:tdj'Jlom 40.501 acres in part
of Township Lot JO, Concession 1, subject to the approval of the
Department of Municipal Affairs. Carried.
A letter, signed by several residents of Church Street complaining-
of the condition of a property, was received by Council. The
Clerk was instructed to check with the Clerk of the United Counties
regarding by-laws and to write to the owner of the property in
question advising him to clean up this condition.
Res. 149 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Rickard
that By-Law No. 72-10, being a by-law to authorize the sale of land
to Bell Canada be read a first time. Carried.
Res. 150 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Barr
that By-Law No. 72-10 be read a second time. Carried.
Res. 151 Moved by Councillor Barr, Seconded by Councillor Rickard
that By-Law 72-10 be read a third time and finally passed. Carried.
Res. 152 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that the meeting adjourn. Carried.
