HomeMy WebLinkAbout04/04/1972 (Special) MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL - April 4th. 1972 Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 7.JO p.m. 4It Present were: Reeve Alfred Gray, Councillors F. Couch, F. Hoar and K. Barr - . .. This meeting was called for the purpose of reviewing the budgets for 1972 of the various Boards and Committees, and to meet with the Officers of the Fire Department regarding the Fire Hall. Fire Chief Fred Glanville, Assistant Chief Sam Brereton and Captain Dick Biersteker discussed with Council the future building plans of a new Fire Hall. Council advised that application for the constructien ef a new Fire Hall under the Federal-Provincial Incentive Program had not received appreval, but the need for a new Fire Hall was evident and Council would keep infermed on Federal-Provincial programs that provide grants for this type of prejeot. In the meantime, the floor in the old Fire Hall is to be repaired. Mr. Jacob Dejong, Chairman of the Memorial Library Board was present en~half of the Board with regard te a request for an increase in the municipal grant to the Library. Mr. Sam Brereton, Chairman and Mrs. Brereton, Secretary of the Recreation Committee were present to discuss the proposed 1972 budget with Council. Councillor Couch represented the Community Hall Board with respect to the Board's 1972 budget' All budgets, and the Library grant were studied by Council and the representatives of the various Boards and Cemmittees were advised that they would be given careful consideration, but ne decision could be made until the requisition from the School Board was received. A report from the Clerk was given te Council with regard to the Ontarie MuniCipal Board hearing in Cobourg on April 4th with regard to Cavan Tewnship's appeal ef the Equalization factor. This appeal was rejected by the O.M.B. due to late filing. Res. 81 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Barr that Resolution No. 56 passed at a meeting held February 21st, 1972 be rescinded with regard to remuneration fer special meetings.
