MINUTES OF REGUlAR MEETING OF COUNCIL - March U. 1972.
Meeting was held in the Council Chamber at 8 p.m.

K. Barr and R. B. Rickard.

Mrs. Judy Miklos, on behalf of the Library Board, requested an increase
in the Library Grant. Council to discuss this and advise the Library
Board at a later date.
Mr. J. DeWith requested Council's approval for building permits on
land he proposes to purchase from John Rickard. He was advised to
bring a plan of the lots he wishes separated and Council will meet
to determine their decision.
Mr. Wm. Lake submitted a plan of subdivision on part of his property
to Council for Council's information.
Clerk was instructed to write to Russell Honey re the Federal-Provincial
Employment Loans Program and the L.r.p. advising him that our Project to
build a Fire Hall had not been approved.

Moved by Councillor Rickard, seconded by Councillor Barr that the Clerk
reply to Mr. Forsyth's letter stating that Council have decided to leave
the rate structure re the water project until tenders have been called.

Moved by Councillor Hoar, seconded by Councillor Couch that the Clerk
write to the necessary authorities as to the breakdown incosts for
signal lights at the C.M.R. crossing on Metcalf St. Carried.
Res. 67
Moved by Councillor Hoar,seconded by Councillor Couch that accounts
amounting to $6,810.55 be approved for payment. Carried.
Res. 68
Moved by Councillor Couch, seconded by Councillor Hoar that reports of
the Health Dept., Fire Dept., and Board of Education be accepted. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Couch, seconded by Councillor Hoar that Road
Expenditure Estimate be approved. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Barr, seconded by Councillor Rickard that the Village
re-apply for approval as a designated Community under the Equalization of
Industrial Opportunity Program. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Hoar, seconded by Councillor Barr that the Clerk write
Mr. K. Witherden of Bell Canada for more information regarding house
numbering and the estimated cost to the Village. Carried.
The Clerk was instructed towrite to the Liquor Control Board regarding
their building program for 1972.

Moved by Councillor Rickard, seconded by Councillor Couch that the Clerk
write to the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce and request that a member be
appointed to a Planning Corumi ttee to meet with the Planning Board in
Toronto. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Couch, seconded by Councillor Barr that the meeting
adjourn. Carried.
