MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF COUNCIL - November 16th. \2Z1
Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m.
Present were: Reeve D. J. Cunningham, Councillors Alfred Gray,
Fred Couch, ~mrgaret Brereton and Frank Hoar.
A committee of four members of the Lions Club, namely Del Moore,
Douglas Wright, Murray Walton and Patrick Blaker requested a meeting
with Council to discuss participation in the Federal Incentive
Program for municipal projects. All members of the Lions Club committee
attended with the exception of Mr. Blaker.
Various pr~jects were discussed, but more particularly that of a
proposed outdoor swimming pool as a municipal project to be undertaken
by the Lions Club under the Federal Incentive Program. More information
was requested and the Clerk was instructed to obtain this information
from the office of Russell C. Honey, M.P.
The committee advised Council that should the Lions Club decide to
go ahead with a municipal project under the Federal programme, it would
be necessary that the required land be made available to them.
Moved by Councillor Gray, Seconded by Councillor Couch that
Council approve in principle that the area of Westview
Heights Park be made available to the Lions Club for the
construction of a Community Outdoor Swimming Pool under the
Federal-Municipal Employment Incentive Program. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that
application be made for the Provincial-Municipal Emplpyment
Incentive Program for a project to Improve MuniCipal Buildings
(interior & exterior). Carried.
Res. 4'lS Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Brereton that
the statement submitted by the Public Utilities Commission
for the Purchase of the Street Lighting System in the amount of
$6,824.25 be accepted and approved for payment. Carried.
Res. 47~ Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Gray that
the meeting adjourn. Carried.
