MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF COUNCIL - OCTOBER 14, 1971.
Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m.
Present were: D. J. Cunningham, Reeve; Councillors F. Hoar, A. Gray F. Couch
and M. Brereton.
Moved by Councillor Gray, Seconded by Councillor Couch that minutes of meeting
held on September 13thbe adopted as printed. Carried
Mr. E. Jenkins, Manager of the P.U.C., Mr. Al Avery and Mr. Spence Urquhart
from Ontario Hydro, spoke to Council respecting the purchase by the Village
of the street lighting system from the P.U.C.
Moved by Councillor Couch, seconded by Councillor Brereton that the Village
approve in principal,the purchase of the street lighting system from the
Newcaatle P.U.C. effective January 1st, 1972. Carried.

Moved by Councillor Gray, seconded by Councillor Couch that John Rickard be
granted permission to separate a parcel of land 0.392 acres, being pa.t of lot
30, Con. 2, in the Village of Newcastle,subject to the approval of the Department
of Municipal Affairs. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Gray, seconded by Councillor Hoar that approval be given to
the Lions Club to hold a Blitz for the Blind on October 18th, 1971. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Gray, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that accounts amounting
to $31,983.81 be approved for payment. Carried.
Moved by Councillor Brereton, seconded by Councillor Couch that October 30th,
be advertised in the local newspaper as Halloween Night in the Village of
Newcastle. Carried.
Res. 444 Moved by Councillor Hoar, seconded by Councillor Gray that 5 firemen police the
Village on Halloween Night October 30th. Carried.
Res. 445 Moved by Councillor Couch, seconded by Councillor Gray that reports of the
Fire Department, Healoh Depar~~ent and Building Department be accepted. Carried
Res. 446 Moved by Councillor Couch, seconded by Councillor Gray that the meeting adjourn.
Carried.
