Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 8 p.m. Present were: Reeve D. J. Cunningham, Councillors F. Couch, F. Hoar, A. Gray and M. Brereton. Moved by Councillor Couch, seconded by Councillor Brereton that the minutes of meetings held August 9th, September 7th and September 9th be adopted as printed. Carried. Moved by Councillor Gray, seconded by Councillor Hoar that the Memorial Library Board be granted permission to transfer $200. from their General account for the purpose of se~ing up a sinking fund for the purchase of a $1000. Debenture. Carried. Mr. Hawes acted as spokesman for a delegation of parents regarding the cost of registration for recreation hockey. After much discussion, it was decided to arrange for a meeting of representatives with the Arena Management Board and the Recreation Committee. The Clerk was instructed to reply to Dr. Walton-Ball's letter stating that because our 1971 budget has been exhausted, his requests will receive consideration in 1972. Mrs. Ronald Hope's application for a building permit to construct a workshop on property on Manvers Street was not approved by Council Moved by Councillor Hoar, seconded by Councillor Couch that the P.U.C/ be given permission to have the necessary equipment installed at the pmaphouse to provide silicate treatment to the water system. Carried. Moved by Councillor Gray, seconded by Councillor Brereton that accounts amounting to $37,497.05 be approved for payment. Carried. Moved by Councillor Hoar, seconded by Councillor Gray that reports of Building and Fire Department be accepted. Carried. Moved by Councillor Hoar, seconded by Councillor Couch that the Fire Department be granted permission to operate a 50-50 Draw on November 20, 1971. Carried. Clerk was instructed to write to Lorne MacGillivray, Superintendent of O.P.P. at Peterboro, inquiring as to O.P.P. policing of the Village. Moved by Councillor Gray, seconded by Councillor Brereton that Reeve Cunningham be appointed Chairman~ a meeting arranged between the Recreation Committee and the Arena Management Board and that two delegates from Newcastle and two from out of town be represented, the meeting to be set for Monday, September 20, 1971, at 8 p.m. Carried. Moved by Councillor Gray, seconded by Councillor Couch that the Reeve be given power to arrange for the construction of a Municipal Garage for the sno~plough, etc. Carried. Clerk was instructed to write a letter to Mr. Gomme, Planning Dept. re planning for Newcastle. Moved by Councillor Gray seconded by Councillor Brereton that the meeting adjourn.
