MINUTES OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING - MAY 5th. 1971
Meeting was held in the Council Chambers at 7.30 p.m.
Present were: Reeve D. J. Cunningham, Councillors F. Couch,
F. Hoar, M. Brereton and A. Gray.
Res. 357 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar
that approval be granted to Strathben Investments Limited
to separate twelve lots in part of township lot 29, Concession 2
in the Village of Newcastle, ten lots being 60' by 200' each
one 70' by 200' and one 68.7' by 200', facing on North Street;
subject to obtaining access permits from the United Counties of
Northumberland and Durham, and approval of the Department of
Health. Carried.

Res. 358 Moved by Councillor Gray, Seconded by Councillor Couch that
By-Law No. 71-12 being aby-Iaw to adopt the estimates of all
sums required during the year and to strike the rates of
taxation for the year 1971, be read a first time. C~rried.
~es. 359 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Brereton that
By-Law No. 71-12 be read a second time. Carried.
Res. 360 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that
By-Law No. 71-12 be read a third time and finally passed. Carried.
The total assessment on which 1971 taxes will be baaed is
$1,779,267
The Residential mill rate is set at 108.7
The Commercial mill rate is set at 122.5
Res. 361 Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Gray that
the meeting adjourn. Carried.
