MINU~~S OF REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING - 0EPTill'ffiK~ 8, 1969
Meeting held in Council Chambers at 8 p.m.
Present were: Reeve D. J. Cunningham, Councillors Joan Frith,
Alfred Gray, Frank Hoar and Ered Couch.
Moved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Frith that
the minutes of meetings August 11 and 18 and September Jrd be
adopted as printed. Carried.
Hoved by Councillor HO'ir, Seconded by Councillor ]<'ri th that
approval be Granted to Lloyd Realty (Oshawa) Limited to build
ten (10) ~ouses only in Subdivision Plan 660, subject to receiv-
ing written easements from the property owners affected by the
storm sewer north of the Park, and upon completion of the roads
and ditches in the said subdivision to the satisfaction of the
Road Committee. Houses are not to be built on the remaining
lots until the completion of the storm sewer. Carried.
A delegation of ratepayers protesting the proposed sewer project
were present. jvlr. Briffett and ]vjr. Adams, representing the
delegation asked Council if there would be a plebesite before
the Village decided to go ahead with the sewer project. The
Reeve advised them that Council had made no decision as to a
plebesite, but when typical home charges were approved by the
O.iil.R.C. the figures would be publicized and the ratepayers
would then be given an opportunity to protest or agree as the
case may be.
Hr. JI'Ialkiewicz spoke to Council with regard to the closing of
Andrew Street between Manvers and Mill Streets. Council advised
him that if and when this street were closed, the property owners
adjacent to the road allowance would have the first chance to
purchase the land.
Res.18J Noved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that
letters be filed from the following: The Department of JvJunicipal
Affairs, Northumberland-Durham County Board of Education, Oshawa
Area Planning and Development, Minister of Agriculture and Food
and The Great Pine Ridge Festival of the Arts. Carried.
Res.184 JvJoved by Councillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Gray that
accounts amounting to $70,892.87 be approved for payment. Carried.
Res.185 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Couch that the
report of the Fire Department be accepted. Carried.

the report Building be accepted. Carried.
Res.187 Moved by CounCillor Couch, Seconded by Councillor Gray that the
Lions Club be given their share of the $5,000.00 grant for the
Arena in the amount of $1,892.00. Carried.
Res.188 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Gray that the
remainder of the $5,000.00 grant in the amount of~J,108.00 be
turned over to the Arena jvlanagement Board. Carried.
Res.189 Moved by Councillor Hoar, Seconded by Councillor Frith that a
donation of $500.00 be given to the Great Pine Ridge Festival
of the Arts. Carried.
Res.190 Noved by Councillor Gray, Seconded by Councillor Hoar that the
balance ofnJ.89 in the Artificial Ice Account be transferred
to the General Account, closing out this account. Carried.
