MINUTES OF SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING - August 27. 1968
Meeting held in Municipal Office, August 27, 1968.

Present were Reeve D. J. Cunnlnggam, Councillors Couch,
Hoar and Walton. Also present were: G. R. Kelly and
D. F. Simpson of the Bell Telephone Co. Ltd.
Mr. Simpson explained the reasons for requiring By-law
permitting installation of Telephone plant by the Bell
Telephone Co. Discussion took place on all aspects of
this By-law and it was agreed that one should be passed.
Clerk was instructed to procure a plan of the proposed
Sewer layout to give to the Bell Telephone Co. who will
be burying some wires.

Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar
that we hire J. W. Murray as Crossing Guard to commence
on Sept. ], 1968 at a salary of $15. a week plus $1. per
week clothing allowance. Carried.

Xwalks
Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Hoar
that we request the Counties Road Commission to approve a
Crosswalk on Mill Street at Robert St., Newcastle and to
recommend to Counties Council that a Resolution be passed
at the next Council meeting to permit the erection of
this crosswalk. Carried.

that all Councillors who are able, and the Clerk will
attend Zone II Seminar L.a.R.D.C. on Tuesday, Sept. 10,
1968 at the Flying Dutchman Motel and that a cheque for
$18. registration be forwarded. Carried.

Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Walton
that we donate $200. to the Great Fine Ridge Festival
of the Arts. Carried.
