MINUTES OF REGULAR COUNCIL ~I&ETING - August 12. 1968. Meeting held in Council Chamber at 8 p.m. Present were Reeve Cunningham, Councillors Couch, Gray Hoar , and Walton. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar that minutes of Council Meeting July 8 be adopted as printed. Carried. Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Walton that minutes of meeting of July 29th be adopted as printed. - Carried. Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Hoar that minutes of meeting of Aug. ? be adopted as printed. Carried. Mr. Douglas Walton spoke to Council regarding the extension of water South of 401 Highway. Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Couch that the Clerk write the O.W.R.C. asking when some action might be expected in this matter. Carried. Mr. Nick Dyriw asked Council for a Building Permit to renovate the old Ward house on North Street. He was advised to give plans and specifications to the Building Inspector to fill out an application form. Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Couch that the resignation of Mr. Herbert Gibson as Crossing Guard be accepted with regret. Carried. Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Gray that a quarter page advertisement be taken in the special supplement of the Daily Commercial News due to be published on September 1, at $87.50. Carried. Clerk was instructed to file letters from the Port Hope Telephone Co.; L.O.R.D.C.; Jack Eilbeck and the Department of Education. Mr. Chas. Megit requested a donation of $50. for the Horticultural Society. Ploved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar that $50. be ~aid to the Horticultural Society as shown in the Budget. Carried. Mr. Roy Hopkins, Boy Scout Association, asked Council about the equipment stored in the Old Municipal Office. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Gray that accounts amounting to $61,2]5.5~be approved for payment. Carried. Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Hoar that leave be granted to introduce By-law 68-10 appointing E. Vierhout as Building Inspector. Carried. Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Couch that by-law be read a second time. Carried. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar that it be read a third time and finally passed. Carried. Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Gray that leave be granted to introduce By-law 68-11 appointing Merril Henry as Weed Inspector, Trench Inspector and Municipal L~w enforcement Officer. Carried. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar that the by-law be read a second time. Carried. Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Walton that it be read a thttd time and finally passed. Carried. Hoar By-law 68-12 that leave be granted to introduce by-law 68-12, a by-law to Dogs amend by-law 711 regarding Dog Licenses. Carried. 4IJes.184 Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Gray that by-law be read a second time. Carried. Res.185 Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Couch that it be read a third time and finally passed. Carried. Clerk was instructed to file the Building Permits Report. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar that Clerk advertise for two Crossing Guards to start on Sept.]. Carried. Tom Messenger addressed Council on the need for new traffic lights at Mill and King. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Walton that the P.U.C. be instructed to install new traffic lights at Mill and King but to use the old control switch if possible. Carried. Reeve Cunningham suggested that about ] miles of road chipping was required which might go $2500. over the road Budget. The Clerk is to inquire whether another supplementary By-law would be approved. Applications for approval of Separation of Land were received from the Reeve, D. J. Cunningham and ~IT. E. S. Barchard. The subject was discussed and no action was taken. Moved by Con.
