Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar that the minutes of the Regular meeting on May I) be adopted as printed. Carried. Res.120 . Res.12l Res.122 Land Separ""- ation . Councillor Walton reported on the Great Pine Ridge Summer Festival Committee that most of the sigps requested by the Festival People will not now be required. Councillor Couch reported on the street light situation and did not recommend that any be put up. Reeve Cunningham reported that the amount requested by Howard Pearce for the killed and injured sheep was fair and recommended the payment of $)2.00. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Gray that Mr. Howard Pearce be paid $)2.00. Carried. The Reeve reported on the Hearing held in Cobourg on May 21 regarding the Quieting Order requested by the Township of Clarke and stated that the East and West Boundaries of Newcastle included the whole of the road allowances on the East and West side of the Village. Mr. Stanley Graham, Chairman of the P.U.C. requested that the lot on Baldwin Street owned by the town (Old Glenny Mill) be sold to the Public Utilities Commission. Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Gray that this lot be sold to the P.U.C. for $1200. On the request of Councillor Walton, a recorded vote was taken. Con. Couch - yes Con. Hoar - no Con. Gray - yes Con. Walton - no. Reeve Cunningham - yes The motion was carried. Mr. Tom Martin requested that application be made to the Minister for the separation of a parcel of land. Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Hoar that we approve of Mr. ~~rtin's application to separate a parca of land approximately 80' x 242' situated in lot 29, Con. 2 Village of Newcastle and that the Road giving access to this property is a private road, the responsibility of the property owners and that this fact shall be stated in the deed conveying the property. At the request of Con. Walton a recorded vote was taken: Con. Couch - yes Con. Walton. - No. Con. Gray - yes Con. Hoar - yes Reeve Cunningham - yes The motion was carried. Mr. George Walton and others spoke at length on the extension of the water South of the 401 Highway. Res. 12) Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Gray Water Ext.that the Clerk write the O.W.R.C. to arrange a meeting with their representatives regarding the probability of going ahead with the extension of the water south of 401 Highway. Carried. Res.124 Clarke . Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Couch that the Reeve appoint a Committee of ) to meet with Clarke Township Council regarding: 1. Road ~mintenance Agreement 2. Road Closing. Carried. The Reeve appointed Councillors Gray and Couch and himself as members of this Committee. Rja. 125 ~ Res. 126 LORDC Res. 127 REGULAR MEETING - June 10, 1968 P~e 2. Moved by Con Walton, Seconded by Con. Hoar that the Property Committee procure a price on the fence in the ball Park requested by the Recreation Committee. Carried Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Couch that the Clerk write L.O.R.D.C. picking 4 dates, Mondays, (but not the second Monday in the month) on any of which Council will be prepared to meet with their Representatives. Carried. Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Hoar that the Clerk attend the L.OjR.D.C. Seminar on Regional Government at Trent University, Peterboro, on wednesday, June 12. Carried. Clerk was instructed to receive and file the following letters: letter from Bowmanville re Ambulance: Health Unit re Tomina Bldg: Lovekin re Cemetery: V.H.O. re Supplimentary By-law: Mrs. D. M. Parisien and Counties re Road Study. Res. 128 Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Hoar that the request of Newcastle Public School payment on their requisition, be approved. , Res.129 Accts. Board for $5,000. Carried. Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Couch that accounts amounting to :nO,502.}8" be approved for payment Carried. " Res.l)~ Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar that leave be granted to introduce By-law 68-7 for temporary borrowing pending the issue of Debentures and that it be read a first time. Carried. Res.l)l Moved by eon. Walton, Seconded by Con. Gray that it be read a second time. Carried. Res.l)2 Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Couch that it be read a third time and finally passed. Carried. A letter from Reeve D. J. Cunningham was read by the Clerk. The Reeve then declared his interest and left the Council Chamber. By agreement with the remaining members, Councillor Couch assumed the Chair. Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Hoar that the application of Douglas Cunningham for the separation of a parcel of land approximately 66' x 1)2' on the west side of Baldwin Street, be approved. Carried. Res.l)) . Res.l)4 Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Walton that Evert Vierhout be appointed Building Inspector for the Village of Newcastle and to receive one half of the Permit Fees as remuneration. Carried. Res.l)5 Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Gray that the Clerk inquire as to what steps may be taken to demolish the house on North Street that is presently condemned by the Health Unit. Carried. Res.I)6 Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Hoar that the Resolution requiring that Council must approve of the issue of Building Permits, be rescinded. Carried. Res.l)? . Res.I)8 Apptment R,s.1)9 ... ~ Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Walton that the Reeve appoint a Committee of 2 to pass on applications for Building Permits or to refer them to Council. Carried. Walton that Merril Henry be appointed Municipal Law enforcement Officer, Weed Inspector and Trench Inspector at an annual fee of $)50. Carried.
