MINUTES SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING - January 31. 1968
Meeting was held in the Municipal Office.
Present: Reeve D. J. Cunningham, Councillors Couch, Gray
Hoar and Walton.
Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Gray
that Mrs. Gray's salary be increased by 25~ per hour to
$1.75 per hour, retroactive to January 15, 1968. Carried.
Moved by Con. Couch, Seconded by Con. Hoar
that the Village purchase a set of Revised Statutes of Ontario
1960 - ~5.oo: Ontario Statute Citator and Service to May $40.
Annual subscription in May - $25. Carried.
Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Gray
that Special Village of Newcastle cheques be purchased and
that they be serial numbered by the printer. - $24. plus
tax. Carried.
Res. 28 Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Couch
that Copying machine be purchased at a price up to $75.00.
Carried.

"ea. 29 Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Hoar
that leave be granted to introduce By-law 68-2 re dividing
the Village of Newcastle into three Polling Subdivisions
and that it be read a first time. Carried.

Moved by Con. Gray, Seconded by Con. Couch that it be read
a second time. Carried.
Moved by Con. Hoar, Seconded by Con. Walton that it be read
a third time and finally passed. Carried.
C.P.R. Prop.
Res. 32 Moved by Con. Walton, Seconded by Con. Gray
that E. R. Lovekin be instructed to offer $50. for the
C.P.R. Property where the station was situated. Carried.
Mr. Harry Jose spoke to Council regarding the N~~~1~~ ~
Cemetery. The Clerk was instructed to investigate Cemetery
Grants.

Councillor Couch stated that more street lights were required
and the Clerk was instructed to find out the cost of installation
and maintenance of street lights.
Councillor Hoar requested the Clerk to ascertain the dimensions
of the property on which the Fire Hall is situated.
