April 26, 1965.
A meeting was held April 25, 1965 to fonn a preliminary com-
mittee to study ways and means of raising funds for the purpose
of installing an artificial ice unit in the Newcastle Arena.
This meeting was attended by Messrs. R. Wagar, H. Quinney,
D. Walton and A. Hendry.
A. Hendry was appointed secretary of this meeting.
It was moved by A. Gray and seconded by H. Quinney that R. Wagar
be chairman of this committee. Carried.
It was moved by H. Quinney and seconded by R. W/logar that D. Walton.
be vice-chairman.()f this committee. Carried.
A survey of the village indicated that approximately 80% of the
residents were in favor of the project. In view of this response
it was moved by H. Quinney and seconded by A. Hendry that prior
to any further discussion of the project, permission to proceed
would be sought from the Council and A. Gray was appointed to
arrange a.meeting with them as soon as possible. t:"~ilJ':C>
It was decided that should Council grant pennission, a permallent
committee would be formed, which would proceed with various fund
raising projects and study of the technical details involved. .
