To provide for the exemption from Nunicipal Taxation except 3chool and Local Improvemen Taxes of the property of the Canadian Legion. Granted and read the first time. On motior. rule 33 was suspended and Council went into committee of the whole on second reading, the Mayor in the chair. On connnittee rising the Mayor reported the second reading. By-Laws were then laid on the table. Council Room, June 5th, 1953 ~ Special meeting of Council was held on above date, members all present excepting Dp Rv Robson, Crs Scott and Cole, the Mayor presiding and stated that he had called the meeting for the purpose of passing a By-Law. CmnlUFICATIONS Tenders were received from the following for street paving;- W.B. Bennett Paving Ltd, Niller Pavin~ ~tdJ K.J. Beamish Gonstruction Co Ltd, Storms Contracting Co Ltd, and H.J. McFa~land Construction Co Ltd. lI~oved by Or 0cott seconded by Cr Hetherington that the tender of the Storms Contractinl Co Ltd for paving be a cce pted a t a price of $ 8.:2 5 per t on and that th e following roads be paved, Liberty St from Ontario st to King 3t, Concession st from Liberty st to ~ellington st, Duke at from Base Line to Argyle St and Argyle St from Duke St to Ontario St, as recommended by the Municipal Road i:!:nsineer. " Carried" From Secretary, Durham County District High 3chool Board, :Fort Hope, requesting that a representative from Council be sent to a meeting of the Board to be held in Port Hope on Friday June 19th at 8.00 P.M. to disouss the matter of procedure for a Board of Arbitration.
