Moved by Cr Cole seconded by Cr OsborIll that the Fire Brigade be grar"ted $ 200.00
being 50 % of the amount received from outside f!:res. "' Carried"
Moved by Cr DeGeer seconded by Rv Little that the works department be instructed to
remove a dead trea on Argyle st near the corner of Duke 3t tI Carried"
Moved by Cr DeGeer seconded by Cr Scott that the Clerk be authorized to contract for
the cuttin~ of the grass in Memorial and Franklin I-arks for theseason at a cost not
exceeding $ 125.00 and Recreation Director be advised of the person securing the

the use of Town equiumer.t be granted providing that that they pay all labor and

Rv Little asked permission to introduce the following By-Laws;
To provide for the conveyance of certain streets and parts of streets.
To provide for the exemption from Nunicipal Taxation except 3chool and Local Improvemen
Taxes of the property of the Canadian Legion.
Granted and read the first time. On motior. rule 33 was suspended and Council went into
committee of the whole on second reading, the Mayor in the chair. On connnittee rising
the Mayor reported the second reading. By-Laws were then laid on the table.
In reference to t'h<> ,- "11i.,~:lttons received for a building inspector, the Mayor appointed
Cra DeGeer and HetherlngJtonl)p Rv Robson as a committee to interview the applicants
and report hac k to Council.

Special meeting of Council was held on above date, members all present excepting
Dp Rv Robson, Crs Scott and Cole, the Mayor presiding and stated that he had called
the meeting for the purpose of passing a By-Law.
The By-LaW to providefor the conveyance of certain streets and p3.rts of street s ",vas
giyen its third reading, passed and ordered to be signed and sealed.

Jpecial meeting of Council was held on above date, members all present excepting Rv
Little and Cr DeCreer, the l/ayor presiding und stated that he had called the meeting
for the purpose of awarding tender for piving roads and passing a By-Law.
CmnlUFICATIONS
Tenders were received from the following for street paving;-
W.B. Bennett Paving Ltd, Niller Pavin~ ~tdJ K.J. Beamish Gonstruction Co Ltd,
Storms Contracting Co Ltd, and H.J. McFa~land Construction Co Ltd.

Co Ltd for paving be a cce pted a t a price of $ 8.:2 5 per t on and that th e following
roads be paved, Liberty St from Ontario st to King 3t, Concession st from Liberty st
to ~ellington st, Duke at from Base Line to Argyle St and Argyle St from Duke St to
Ontario St, as recommended by the Municipal Road i:!:nsineer. " Carried 11

to s pend up to $ 1,000.00 for extra width paving on Li barty at if found necessary.

Moved by Cr Hetherini7ton secom')ed by Cr Kilmer that one car of asphalt dust layer be
purchased at a price not exceeding 21.50'11 per gallon. " Carried"
From Secretary, Durham County District High 3chool Board, :Fort Hope, requesting that
a representative from Council be sent to a meeting of the Board to be held in Port
Hope on Friday June 19th at 8.00 P.M. to disouss the matter of procedure for a
Board of Arbitration.
Moved by Cr Cole seconded by Dp Rv Robson that Cr Osborne be requested to attend.
