Council Room, February 21st, 1957
Special meeting of Council was held on above date, members all present the 1!ayor
presiding and stated that he he d called the meeting for the purpose of passing a
and general business.

Rv Little e.sked permission to introduce a B~r-La.w to fluthorize the purchase of the land
and premises known as the Post Ofrica at the North-west corner of King and Temperance
Streets in the TONn of Bowmanvllle for the price of :$ 14,000.00
Granted and read the furst time. On motion rule 33 was Auspended and Council went into
cot'1Illittee of the whole on second reading, the J,;ayor in the chair. On committee rising
the Mayor reported the second read1.ng w1.th all blenks filled in. By-Law was then a
second and third ti~e, passed and ordered to be signed and sealed.
,Moved by Dp Rv Carruthers seconded by Cr Brough that the Council make an offer to
Ipurchase the old Post Office Building for $ 14,000.00 acoording to the terMS required
: by t he Crown Assets Disposal Corporation and accompanying the offer, and that a letter
Ibe written stating the reasons for the town wiShing to purchase the property, namely
i in the name for a free library, and blso tmt the offer of the Rotary Club be accepted
Ilwith thanks and thet the club be advised that we have made an offer of purchase of the
