Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council,
held on Monday, October 22, 1984, at 7:00 P.M.
in the Council Chambers
Mayor Rickard called the meeting to order and
led in prayer.

THAT the MInutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on
Tuesday, October 9, 1984, be approved as read.

Newcastle, being the Town of Newcastle Comprehensive
Sign By-law.

THAT the law firm of McCarthy & McCarthy be advised that
in response to their enquiry, no action has been taken by the
Council of the Town of Newcastle for closure and/or conveyance
of the road allowance between Lot 35, Concession 1, of the
former Township of Clarke and Lot 1 in the Broken Front
Concession of the former Township of Darlington, more
particularly described as Part 22 of Plan 10R-1330.

Authority that the persons designated for the year 1985
will be unchanged from those designated for 1984.

within 5 years.

THAT Report PD-179-84 and the Addendum (handout) be

Council recessed at this point for 10 minutes because
of a lack of a quorum.
Council reconvened.
Resolution HC-686-84 was withdrawn with the

1. That Report PD-179-84 be received;
2. Staff be authorized to proceed with publication of a
Public Notice of a Public Meeting to be held on
December 3, 1984, in respect of the amendments
identified by Attachment No. 1 hereto; and
3. That By-law 84-63 be forwarded to the Ontario Municipal
Board for approval; and
4. That the Ontaricl Municipal Board be requested to convene
a hearing in respect of the appeals filed and set out as
Items 1 - 9 inclusive in Staff Report PD-179-84; and
5. That Town Staff and the Municipal Solicitor be
authorized to attend such hearing and make representation
on behalf of the Town on all such appeals unless otherwise
previously directed by Council resolution; and
6. That the Town Solicitor be authorized to request
the Board to exercise its powers to amend By-law 84-63
as may be necessary to implement the Board's decisions
in respect of any, or all, appeals.
