TOWN OF NEWCASTLE October 9, 1984 Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on Tuesday, October 9, 1984, at 9:30 a.m., in Court Room #2. Mayor Rickard called the meeting to order and led in prayer. Present Were: Mayor G. B. Rickard Councillor A. Cowman Councillor I. M. Hobbs Councillor M. Hubbard Councillor R. B. Taylor Councillor E. "CARRIED" Councillor Woodyard requested that the record show that Councillor Hamre was in attendance at the Conservation Authority Meeting of Septmber 14, 1984. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-647-84 Moved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Councillor Hubbard THAT the correspondence dated September 26th 1984, from the Burketon Park Board be received; THAT the grant request be referred to the 1985 budget discussions; AND THAT the correspondence be referred to the Public Works Department for review and a report on the works requested and an estimate of the costs associated with the works. Wakefield, Secretary-Treasurer, Board of Management Orono Town Hall, Box 561, Orono Ontario, LOB 1MO, advising that Mr. Roy Forester had resigned from the Board, and that Mr. Bill Grady has agreed to become a member of the Board be received; AND THAT Mr. Roy Forrester be thanked for his contribution to the Orono Hall Board; AND FURTHER THAT Mr. Bill Grady's appointment to the Orono Hall Board be confirmed; AND FURTHER THAT Mrs. B. Wakefield, Secretary-Treasurer, Board of Management Orono Town Hall, be advised of Council1s decision. Report of October 1, 1984 Chain of Office Region of Durham . - 4 - October 9th 1984 AND THAT Mr. Roy Forrester be thanked for his contribution to the Orono Hall Board; AND FURTHER THAT the matter of the filling of the vacancy on the Orono Hall Board be referred to the Striking Committee. A Framework fori' Community Recreation Services By-laws . . - 5 - October 9th 1984 Resolution #C-656-84 Moved by Councillor Hobbs, seconded by Councillor Taylor THAT the Mayor's Report 3-84, be added to the Agenda and considered at this time. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-657-84 Moved by Councillor Hobbs, seconded by Councillor Taylor THAT the recommendations contained in the Mayor's Report 3-84 be approved; and 1. That this report be received; and 2. That the correspondence and documents attached to Report 3-84 from the Ministry of Tourism and Recreation titled "A Framework for Community Recreation Services" be referred to staff and that staff respond to the Ministry's communication. "CARRI ED" Resolution #C-658-84 Moved by Councillor Hubbard, seconded by Councillor Taylor THAT leave be granted to introduce the following by-laws, and that the said by-laws be now read a first time: 84-121 being a by-law to authorize the entering into of an agreement with Betty Jo King, 594829 Ontario Limited, and the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle; 84-122 being a by-law to authorize the execution of a rental agreement with Orono Showcase Co-Operative; 84-123 being a by-law to authorize the execution of an amending agreement to Supplementary Agreement No. 8 with Ontario Hydro to increase the amount for printing the Durham Prospectus by $11,000. "CARRI ED" Confirming By-law Resolution #C-663-84 Moved by Councillor Cowman, seconded by Councillor Hobbs THAT leave be granted to introduce By-law 84-124, being a by-law to confirm the proceedings of the Council of the Town of Newcastle, at this meeting held on the 9th day of October 1984, and that the said by-law be now read a first time.
