Minutes of a regular meeting of
Council held on Monday, March 12, 1984,
at 9:30 a.m., in Court Room #2.
Acting Mayor Councillor D. Hamre called the
meeting to order and led in prayer.

THAT the communication from Mr. John Lewis, Carnival
Chairman, Bowmanville Lion's Club, dated FEbruary 20th 1984,
seeking an exemption from the business licensing requirement
be recei ved;
ANO THAT the Bowmanville Lions' Club be granted an exemption
from the municipality's licensing requirements as it relates
to refreshment vehicles for the duration of the event;
AND FURTHER THAT Mr. John Lewis, Carnival Chairman,
Bowmanville Lions' Club 26 Beech Avenue, Bowmanville,
LIC 3A2, be so advised.

the Town of Newcastle be received;
AND THAT the requests referred to herein be approved and
"Multiple Sclerosis" Week be advertised in accordance with
Town Policy;
AND FURTHER THAT Mr. Don Webb, Carnation Day Chairman,
418/410 Nonquon Road, Oshawa, Ontario, L1G 3S5, be
advised of Council's decision.

Council's permission to sell raffle lottery tickets in the
Town of Newcastle be received;
AND THAT the Town of Newcastle approve the request and grant
permission to the Knights of Columbus, Council 6361 to sell
raffle lottery tickets in the Town of Newcastle;
AND THAT Mr. Bill VanBoxtel, R.R. #6, Bowmanville, Ontario,
LIC 3K7, be advised of Council's decision.

adopted by resolution regarding waste disposal sites,
be forwarded to Environment Canada.

Kawartha Springer Club, dated February 20th 1984, requesting
Council's permission to hold field trials in the Town of
Newcastle on May 5th and 6th 1984, be received;
AND THAT Mrs. Janice M. Miller, Secretary, Kawartha
Springer Club 2004 Foxfarm Road, Peterborough, Ontario,
K9K IP8, be advised, that Council has no objection to the
holding of the event in the Town of Newcastle.

THAT the communication from Mr. J. Rae Abernathy, Acting
Secretary, Bowmanville Branch, Navy League of Canada, dated
March 5th 1984, requesting permission to hold a parade on
May 6th 1984, restrict parking on Temperance Street, for
the duration of the cenotaph service, and restrict parking
on King Street in front of Kramp's Furniture, which
location will be used as the Reviewing STand, be received;
AND THAT the requests by the Bowmanville Branch, Navy League
of Canada be approved, and they be advised that a "Road
Occupancy Permit" wi 11 be requi red from the Pub 1 i c Works
Department;
AND FURTHER that staff be requested to provide every
assistance to the parade organizers and Mr. J. Rae Abernathy,
Acting Secretary, Bowmanville Branch, Navy League of Canada,
P.O. Box 70, Bowmanville, Ontario, LIC 3K8, be informed
of Council's decision.

January 26th 1984, requesting that Council proclaim the week of
Apri.l 29th 1984 to May 5th 1984, as "Mental Health Week", in
the Town of Newcastle be received;
AND THAT the request referred to herein, be approved, and
