Mayor Rickard called the meeting to order and led in prayer. Present Were: Mayor G. B. Rickard Councillor Ivan M. Hobbs Councillor Marie Hubbard C.ounci 11 or R. Bruce Taylor Absent: Councillor A. Aldridge Resolution #C-38-84 Moved by Councillor Hobbs, seconded by Councillor Taylor THAT the minutes of a regular meeting of Council held on January 9, 1984, be approved as read. "CARRIED" Mr. John Veldhuis, Chairman of the Port Granby . . Monitoring Committee, asked for a meeting of Council, Monltorlng with the Committee as soon as possible, to update Council on the activities at the Port Granby Site. Mr. Milt Dakin, presented to Council, a financial statement of the construction project of Forestree Place, a housing development for seniors. He said that, as the Town of Newcastle had assisted by means of grants, in the amount of $49,000, he felt the public should be informed how the money was spent. The total cost of the project was $2,182,767.00 and came in approximately $50,000 under budget. The project has 69 tenants. About 50% are subsidized by the Province and the Foresters. He said that the group would be willing to assist the Town and provide expertise or moral support for any group interested in housing projects. -' Council Mi nutes Delegations " Penwest Developments Proposed Rezoning Communications @ D - 1 Ontario Good Roads Association re Effective Management Semi nar D - 2 -,~ Ontario Industrial ~waste Conference - 2 - January 23, 1984 Mr. Dennis Trinaistich, Solicitor for Penwest Developments, spoke to Report PD-39-84, proposed rezoning for Penwest. He said he felt that the road pattern should remain as it is, and could be more appropriately dealt with in the subdivision agreement. He felt that the discrepancy in boundary lines had resulted from changes in the manner of descriptions. Exact boundaries are not required for rezoning. He was requested to make available in writing to Council, alternate solutions which he had suggested.
