held on Monday, May 27, 1985, at 7:45 p.m.
in Court Room #2
Present Were: Mayor G. B. Rickard
Councillor D. Hamre
Councillor I. M. Hobbs
Councillor M. Hubbard
Councillor R. B. Taylor
Absent: Councillor A. Cowman (Vacation)
Councillor E. R. Woodyard,(Due to Illness)
Also Present: Chief Administrative Officer, D. Johnston

THAT Council convene in Committee of the Whole.

THAT the meeting be "In Camera."

THAT the recommendations contained in Administrator's
Confidential Report Admin 35-85 "Compensation Plan for
Non-Unionized Full-Time and Part-Time Employees and
Council Appointees" be approved.

THAT the previous resolution be amended, and
Item 3 on Schedule "A" to Confidential Report
Admin 35-85, be deleted.

THAT the Platoon Chief's position be re-classified,
and that the position be established at Salary
Grade 10, Step 2.

Moved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Councillor Hamre
THAT Recommendation Number 7 in Confidential
Report Admin 35-85 be dealt with at this time;
AND THAT an increase of four percent (4%) be
authorized for the year 1985, to all Members
of Town of Newcastle Council, the Newcastle
Community Services Planning Board, the Committee
of Adjustment, and the Property Standards Committee.

By-laws

Moved by Councillor Hobbs, seconded by Councillor Hubbard
THAT leave be granted to introduce the following by-laws,
and that the said by-laws be now read a first time:
85-73 being a by-law to authorize execution of a
Collective Agreement between the Town of
Newcastle and The Canadian Union of Public
Employees and its Local 74;
85-74 being a by-law to amend By-law 83-119 entitled
"a by-law to appoint a Fi re Chief";
85-75 being a by-law to amend Schedule "A" to
By-law 83-164 entitled "a by-law to establish the
position of Platoon Chief."
