Minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council
held on Tuesday, April 9th 1985, at
9:30 A.M., in Court Room #2.
The Mayor called the meeting to order
and led in prayer.

THAT the correspondence dated March 21, 1985, from Mr.

requesting that Council authorize the rental of the Orono
Arena and permitting the dispensing of alcoholic beverages
on JUly 13th 1985, be received;

AND THAT the requests be approved and the Town Clerk be
authorized to provide the group with a letter stating,
"that the Council of the Town of Newcastle has no
objection to the issuing of a liquor licence covering the
dispensing of alcoholic beverages in the Orono Arena on
July 13, 1985, as part of the Orono High School Reunion
festivities."
AND THAT Mr. Wayne Kennedy be advised of Council's decision.

THAT the correspondence be received, and the author,
Reverend John Peters, President of the Bowmanville and
District Ministerial Association be advised that Council
has addressed the issue in the Comprehensive Zoning By-law.

THAT the correspondence dated March 18th 1985, from Mr. Ron
Eddy, President, Association of Municipalities of Ontario,

information relating to the Town's level of participation
in "Local Government Week" be received;
AND THAT the correspondence be referred to staff with the
direction that they respond to the questions asked by
A.M.O. and advise on the Town of Newcastle level of
participation in the program.

for Highway #2.

and a report to the General Purpose and Administration
Committee on the questions raised by Mr. & Mrs. Arsenault;

of May 25th to June 2nd 1985 as "National Physical Activity
Week" in the Town of Newcastle be received;
AND THAT the week be advertised in accordance with
Town Policy;
AND FURTHER THAT the Honourable Otto Jelinek, Minister of
State, Fitness and Amateur Sport, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A OX6,

85-36 being a by-law to amend By-law 84-63,
Comprehensive Zoning By-law of the Corporation
of the Town of Newcastle (Housekeeping Amendments);
85-37 being a by-law to authorize the entering into of a
lease with Matthews and Hill Insurance Brokers
Limited (Orono Armouries);
85-38 being a by-law to authorize the execution of an
Agreement with First City Capital Ltd., in respect
