A regular meeting of the Bowmanville Town Council was held
in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall, Bowmanville on
March 2, 1959 at 8:00 P.M.
All members present.

And resolved that the Council minutes dated February 2, 5th and.
25th be and the same are hereby adopted.

Correspondence
Consumer's Gas Company letter dated February 3, 1959 advising
that the Gas Company is cutting off all existing unused
services and to add curb cocks where required on commercial
and industrial services.

Mrs Helen Francis letter dated February 28th, 1959.
Our Chihuahua is twelve years old and not spayed. Could
she be exempt from the $5.00 as she does not run the streets
and never has.
I would appreciate this exemption perhaps not only for
myself but for others in the same position.
I have always paid the $2.00 fee before.

That Mrs. Francis be advised that there are no exceptions
to the By-Law.
Lake Ontario Association Development letter dated February 27.
A meeting of the Executive of Zone 2 of the Lake Ontario
Development Association will be held in the Council Chamber
Cobourg, on Monday, March 9th, at 3:30 P.M. This is an
important meeting as it is the election of officers and forming
of committees for the coming year.
Each Municipality and each Chamber of Commerce or Board
of Tra~e are allowed one member on the executive. Your present
officers request that you give careful consideration to your
appointment as the success of the work zone 2 depends on an
active and enthusiastic executive.
A dinner will be held at the British Hotel at 7.00 P.M.
that evening, with Mr. Arnold Edinborough, editor of the
Saturday Night, as the guest speaker. Tickets for this function
are $1.75 and may be obtained from your Municipal or Chamber
of Commerce representative.

Foran's Esso Service letter dated February 28th 1959.
By reason of the closing of traffic on Liberty Street
South I have suffered a severe loss of business.
In view of the fact that it is, as I am advised, the duty
of your Municipality to keep this road in repair and maintain
it, which you have failed to do, it is my intention to claim
damages for loss of business resulting from such failure to
make repairs.
I feel that I have suffered damage over and above that of
the ordinary person and that I should be compensated accordingly
I am and will be pre~ared to furnish you with particulars of
my damages at the aprropriate time.

Canadian Cancer Society letter dated February 25- 1959.
The Bowmanville Branch of the Canadian Cancer Society
would like permission to run a Cancer blitz on one of the last
four days in April, to be a one hour blitz the same as last
~ year between the hours of 7 and 8 P.M.
We would like permission to use anyone of the four dates
so that we may choose the one most suited to our campaign
conditions when it is closer at hand.
Your kind assistance to our campaign in this manner will
be more than appreciated.

Canadian Cancer Society letter dated February 26, 1959.

We would like to ask permission of the Council at its
meeting on tlonday next, to place in the main lobby of the
Town Hall a metal rack containing literture free about cancer.
We have already placed these racks in two of the factories
in Town and would like one, if convenient in the Town Hall.
Enclosed are three samples of the pamphlets which the
Council might like to see.
We would appreciate if you would place this request before
the Council at the appropriate time, tlonday evening.
