A special meeting of the Bowmanville Town Council was held on February 10th, at 7:30 p.m. in the Town Hall, to discuss the opening of roads to the new public school. Councillor Presson absent. All others present. Mayor W. Carruthers in the Chair. Time Extension on Town property, corner of Base Line & Liberty St. Moved by Councillor Lathangue, Seconded by Deputy-Reeve Hobbs, That the extension of one month as requested be granted. Carried. Mr. Alexander appeared before Council regarding a proposed street through his land. . After a considerable discussion it was decided to advise Mr. Alexander of the following offer by the Town and have him appear at a Board of Works meeting to be held on February 29th. "The Town will do the following at no cost to you:- 1. Grade, gravel and put the base on Meadowview Blvd. 2. Stock pile any surplus top soil and fill. 3. Put a temporary culvert on each side of the road, which will give access to your property. (The culverts remain property of the Town.) 4. Will request the Planning Board to release nine lots on Meadowview Blvd. and six lots on Liberty Street. The Town requires the following from you:- 1. 100% of the cost of the watermain on Meadowview Blvd. 2. 100% of the cost of the paved road and curb on Meadow- view Blvd. - this pavement not to be laid until all house services have been installed. 3. 5% of the land. 4. A frontage tax of $4.00 per foot frontage - this to be paid by the sub-divider when the lots have been sold. When storm and sanitary sewers are required, that they be installed on a local improvement basis ( a sufficiently signed petition).
