Councillors Lathangue and Nicks absent. All others present. Mayor Carruthers in the Chair. CORRESPONDENCE 1. Bowmanville Planning Board - February 14th/61. "I have been instructed by the Board to write you regarding arranging a joint meeting of Planning Board members and Municipal Council members. e The purpose of this meeting is to discusss together the problem of whether to, or whether not to, approve the conveyances of lands in the areas of subdivision control, where municipal services such as sanitary sewer and town water are no~ available. In the past years some applications have been approved and some have been turned down. It is now apparent that a clearer and more definite policy should be agreed on, if at all possible. We now await your pleasure." Moved by Deputy-Reeve Hobbs, Seconded by Cop. Stevens, That this meeting be arranged for March 1st, Council Chambers at 7:30 p.m. and the Planning Board be so notified. Carried. ./ e 2~ Mrs. Robert Williams - February 16th/61. "I am writing in regards that I would like to come in to Bowman- ville and operate a place of business for Palm readings. I have been living in Oshawa and have been there since the past seven months. The only thing that it requires in Oshawa is business ~ taxes. So I would like to know what it requires in Bowmanville. So please answer me as soon as possible to the above address." Moved by Con. Hughes, Seconded by Con. Presson, That Mrs. Williams be notified re: Business Tax. Carried. 3. Resignation - Mary Fagan, Effective March 3rd, 1961. Moved by Deputy-Reeve Hobbs, Seconded by Con. Hardy Craig, Consulting Engineer, - February 15th/61. Re: L.C.B.O. Retail Outlet, Bowmanville, Ontario. "We understand that there is some question as to whether the roof drainage should be connected to the sanitary sewer on this building as there is no existing storm sewer on the street. In our telephone conversation to you on October 26th, 1960, it was our understanding that you would provide a future storm sewer on this street and that, in the meantime, it was satisfactory to you for us to tie the roof drainage for the building into the sanitary sewer until such time as this storm sewer was installed; provided it was tied in on the street side of the sanitary build- ing trap and that a storm drain was provided from the building so / that it could be connected into the storm sewer at the street v when the sewer was installed. We would appreciate hearing from you as to what the specific objections are as to the installation as we have it laid out. We have only received a report from the Contractor passed on to us second or third hand, and we therefore do not know exactly what the problem is." Moved by Deputy-Reeve Hobbs, Seconded by Con. Stevens, That the mover be certain exemptions~for than five acres. Hughes, That By-law to provide for the payment of a fee for the inspection of septic tanks be now read a third time, passed and numbered By-Law 1795. carried.
