Mrs. Janice Slocombe, the Chairman of the Waverley Block
Parents Committee, spoke to Council relative to the Waverley
Road Tunnel. She reiterated the requests in a petition:
1. Lighting in the tunnel;
2. Construction safety;
3. Bullying in the tunnel, which resulted in children
running across Martin Road where there was no fencing
in that area;
4. Loose rocks in the ditch retention area caused by
the mesh being broken.
She suggested that a crossing guard at the tunnel when the
children were going to and coming from school might help
the situation.
