Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council
held on Thursday, October 6 1983 at 1 :30 p.m.
in Court Room #2
Roll Call: Present were: Councillor R. Bruce Taylor, Acting Mayor
Councillor I. M. Hobbs
Councillor Marie Hubbard
Councillor Ann Cowman
Absent were:
Mayor G. B. Rickard, on vacation
Councillor Diane Hamre, previous commitment
Councillor E.R.Woodyard, previous commitment
Deputy Clerk, Gertrude Gray
Chief Administrative Officer, D. Johnston
Town Clerk, David Oakes
Treasurer, Kathryn Campbell
Director of Public Works, R. Dupuis
Fire Chief, J. Aldridge
Director of Community Services, T.A.Fanning
Also Present:
The meeting was convened at 1:50 p.m.
Acting Ilayor Taylor explained that the purpose of the meeting
was to allow members of Council to ask technical questions of
Provincial Staff members with respect to the Pine Ridge School.Property.

THAT Council convene in Committee of the Whole.

THAT the meeting be "in camera"

The Chief Administrative Officer gave a verbal report of
a meeting with the Minister of Governement Services and
the Deputy Minister on October 3 1983 relative to the
Pi ne Ri dge Property.

The following representatives of the Ministry of
Government Services were present at this time:
Mr. Tony Guy, Executive Director, Property Development Division
Mr. Bill Gray, Director of Realty Services
Mr. Gord Spowent
Mr. Bi 11 Graham
Mr. Bob Wo1vin
The representatives of the Ministry answered technical
questions relative to the property.
Resolution #C-728-83
Moved by Councillor Hobbs, seconded by Councillor Hubbard
THAT the Minister of Government Services and the representatives
here today be advised that this Municipal Council is not
interested in the purchase of the former Pine Ridge School
property in this community.
"CARRIED" later in the meeting.
Acting Mayor Taylor ruled that the motion was invalid.
Councillor Hobbs challenged the ruling of the Chair.
Members of Council upheld the challenge by a 3 to 1 vote.
On being put to a vote, Resol uti on #C-728-83 was "CARRIED"

THAT a letter be sent to the Minister of Government Services
confirming this decision.
