Minutes of a special meeting of Council
held on Thursday, September 15, 1983, at
2:30 p.m., to view the Pine Ridge School
Property and 4:00 p.m., in the Council
Library, Town Hall.
Present Were: Mayor G. B. Rickard
Councillor M. Hubbard
Councillor I. Hobbs
Councillor R. B. Taylor
Councillor E. R. Woodyard
Councillor D. Hamre at 4:25 p.m.

Pine Ridge School
Property
Moved by Councillor Woodyard, seconded by Councillor Taylor
THAT the Clerk prepare the "Offer to Purchase" documents
forwarded to the Town of Newcastle by the Ministry of
Government Services, with respect to the property known as
the Pine Ridge School, Bowmanville;
.
AND THAT the Town Offer the Ministry the sum of
$250,000.00 for the said property;
AND THAT the Clerk prepare a covering letter explaining
Council's rationale with respect to the future use that
would be made of the property;
AND FURTHER THAT the documents referred to herein be
available for Council's further consideration when the
Special Meeting of Council reconvenes at 9:00 a.m.,
Monday, September 19th 1983, in Court Room #2.

THAT Council convene in Committee of the Whole.

THAT the Town of Newcastle submit a tender to the Ministry
of Government Services in the amount of $250,000.00, for
the property known as Pine Ridge School, and the necessary
By-law authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute the
Tender documents be passed;
AND FURTHER THAT the proposed covering letter be forwarded
to the Honourable George Ashe, Minister.

THAT the Mayor meet with the Minister of Government Services
immediately, to discuss the Town's serious intentions in
relation to the Pine Ridge School Property explaining the
possible long term plans as outlined in the proposed
letter from the Mayor to the Minister.
