Minutes of a Special Meeting of Council
held on Monday, July 25 1983 at 1:30 p.m.
in Court Room #2 for the purpose of filling
the Vacant Seat on Council - Ward 3 - Local
Council.
Mayor Rickard called the meeting to order and
led in prayer.

Councillor R. Bruce Taylor
Town Clerk, David W. Oakes

Moved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Councillor Cowman
THAT the Clerk's Report setting out the names of the
persons seeking appointment to the Council Seat- Local
Councillor - Ward 3, be received for information.

Resolution #C-570-83
Moved by Councillor Hamre, seconded by Councillor Taylor
THAT an election be called to fill the vacancy on
Council created by the death of Councillor Barr
and the Clerk introduce an appropriate by-law, as
soon as possible.

Moved by Councillor Hobbs, seconded by Councillor Taylor
THAT all persons named in the Clerk's report, be nominated
to fill the vacancy.

Moved by Councillor Hubbard, seconded by Councillor Taylor
THAT there be a five minute recess to allow Council to
review the applications.
"CARRIED"
The Clerk explained the procedure to be used for
determining the successful candidate.
The vote on the first ballot was as follows:

The Clerk declared Edward Woodyard as the successful
candidate for the seat on Council as Local Councillor
Ward 3, in accordance with R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302,
Section 45 (3)
Mayor Rickard advised Council of the outcome of the
process.

THAT the Clerk advise Mr. Woodyard of his appointment
and arrange for him to be sworn in as a Councillor
at tonight's Council meeting.
