THAT the correspondence from the Navy League of Canada,
dated January 31, 1983, be received; and
1. April 25 to May 1, 1983, be proclaimed "Navy Week"
in the Town of Newcastle, according to Town Policy;
2. Permission be granted for Sea Cadets to sell Navy
League Tags throughout the Town April 29th and 30th;
3. Permission be granted to hold a Battle of the Atlantic
Parade on Sunday, May 1st to the Bowmanville Cenotaph
and back to the Legion Parking Lot;
4. The matter of traffic and parking and the use of the
power supply be referred to staff, with power to act.

THAT the correspondence dated January 27, 1983, from
Mrs. C. Sampson, relative to discharge of firearms in
the Area of the Forestry Station at Orono, be received
and referred to staff for review and report to the
General Purpose and Administration Committee on ways
in which the Town can assist in the control of this
hazardous practice in the Town of Newcastle.

THAT Council concur with the request of the Canadian Cancer
Society to proclaim the month of April as "Cancer Month" in
the Town of Newcastle, according to Town Policy, to raise
the flag on April 2, 1983 at 12:00 noon, and to declare
April 8th as Daffodil Day throughout the Town according to
Town Policy.

in touch with the proponents of the other subdivision in
Enniskillen, relative to water services. He asked that
the matter be tabled until he and Mr. Jeffery of Oakland
Developments, have had a chance to resolve the problems.

THAT leave be granted to introduce the following by-laws, and
that the said by-law be now read a first time:
83-25 being a by-law to permit the continuation
of an encroachment onto Town-owned lands by
Harold C. McDonald and Elva Mary Isabel
McDonald, 135 Ontario Street, Bowmanville,
Ontario, pursuant to the provisions of
Section 219(101) of The Municipal Act R.S.O.
1980, and Town of Newcastle By-law 81-150;

83-26 being a by-law to amend Restricted Area By-law
Number 79-44, as amended of the former Village of
Newcastle, now in the Town of Newcastle (Bondhead
Professional Building);
83-27 being a by-law to amend By-law Number 2111, as
amended, of the former Township of Darlington, now
in the Town of Newcastle (Gearing);
83-28 being a by-law to establish a community recreation
centre at Solina in the former Township of
Darlington, now in the Town of Newcastle and
to provide for the establishment of a community
centre board;
83-29 being a by-law to authorize the execution of an
Agreement with Ontario Hydro (No.9);
83-30 being a by-law to stop-up and close and to authorize
the sale of all of the portions of Pine Street, lying
between Blocks "Q" and "R" according to C. G. Hanning's
Plan of Lot 10 in the First Concession of the former
Town of Bowmanville.

"Promotion Day" during the week of May 24th 1983, to
promote industrial growth and job creation opportunities
in the Town of Newcastle, and hereby requests the Mayor
and Chief Administrative Officer, to convene a meeting
of Members of Council and relevant staff for further
input in this matter.
