Mr. John Veldhuis addressed Council relative to Port
Granby Nuclear Dump. He indicated a sense of urgency for
Council to appoint a monitoring committee. He stated that
the matter had been approved in principle, 6 years ago.
Four years ago S.E.A.P. had notified the Atomic Energy Control
Board of conditions at the site, and had brought the same
to Council's attention 1~ years ago. Again in the fall of
1981, he had advised Council of further dumping at the site,
and there are at the present time, several truckloads of
radioactive material being used as ground cover. It has
recently come to his attention that in September 1981, there
had been another unusual accurrance of leakage into Lake
Ontario, higher than the standards allowed by the Ontario
Government. The site is slated to be cleaned up by 1985, and
he felt a monitoring committee composed of 1-3 members of
Council, 3 members of S.E.A.P., should be set up immediately,
with power to add others to the committee as required.

Mr. John Winters addressed Council relative to rezoning
application Z-A-2-13-5 which was tabled at the General
Purpose and Administration Committee Meeting pending
the receipt of an engineering study. He commented on
the concerns in the report regarding the adequacy of the
road and the concerns of the Ministry of Natural Resources.
He presented his comments, correspondence from the Ministry
of Natural Resources, the Toronto Harbour Commission,
Memo to Mr. J.M. McIlroy, former Town Clerk, relative
to Shoreline Property Assistance Loan, and a petition of
approximately 64 names, having no objection to the
construction of a new dwelling on Part Lot 8, Broken
Front Concession, Mallory Plan.
John Manual presented a brief, on behalf of the Senior
Citizens Committee of the Rotary Club. The brief expressed
concerns for the elderly and disabled during winter snow-
falls, particularly at major intersections and gaining
access to parked cars. He suggested more priority should
be given to these matters. He noted that the snow was
eventually cleared but it might have been done sooner.
He asked that if a suitable by-law and procedure now exists,
Council explore methods of ensuring that service is
provided in an efficient and timely manner and, if the
by-law is deficient, it might be appropriately reviewed
and amended.
Mr. Jasper Holliday stated that Mr. Arnott Wotten would
speak on behalf of the delegation listed on the agenda.
Mr. Wotten presented a brief relative to the termination
of employment of Messrs. Dunham and Ashton, former
employees of the Public Works Department. They expressed
dissatisfaction with the manner in which the matter had
been handled and asked Council to terminate the employment
of the Administrator.
