Fanning Minutes Resolution #C-40-8~ Moved by Councillor Prout, seconded by Councillor Hubbard THAT minutes of a regular Council Meeting held on January 4, 1982, be approved as corrected. "CARRIED" Delegations Councillor E.R. Woodyard noted that he was absent from the January 4, 1982 meeting because of illness. No delegations listed on the Agenda were present. Mayor Rickard announced that the delegation from the Veltri Tenant's Association had advised him that they agreed with the recommendation of the General Purpose and Administration Committee, and if the recommendation was endorsed, they felt there was no need to be present. Mr. Al Strike representing the Bowmanville Business Association was not present. Mr. Charles Ewert was not present at this time. Resolution #C-43-82 Moved by Councillow Cowman, seconded by Councillor Hubbard THAT the recommendation of the Board of Directors for the Bowmanville Business Centre for nominations of names of members for the Board for 1982 be referred back with a request that the Bowmanville Business Centre advise Council when the public ad and public meeting of the full membership was held to approve such a Board. "CARRIED" Mr. Ewert was present at this time and addressed Council relative to the appraisal price of the unopened road allowance of Park Street in the former Village of Newcastle. He disagreed with the appraisal for the 16.5 feet of land and asked Council to refer the matter to staff for negotiation. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-87-82 Moved by Councillor Cowman, seconded by Councillor Hubbard THAT the Chief Administrative Officer review with the Deputy Director of Works and the Superintendant of Works the methodology employe~ by the Works Department with regards to its night, weekends, and holiday duty responsibilities, and that a report be forthcoming to the General Purpose and Administration Committee. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-88-82 Moved by Councillor Taylor, seconded by Councillor Prout THAT the Town of Newcastle request the Province of Ontario through the office of Mr. Sam Cureatz, M.P.P., that the citizens of this Municipality as individuals, and groups, be afforded the opportunity to view the site and the buildings of the Pine Ridge School. This request is made in order that they may assess the potential of this property in the future development of the Municipality. Councillor Cowman challenged the Mayor's ruling in accepting the foregoing motion. Council upheld the Mayor's ruling and, on being put to a vote, Resolution #C-88-82 was "CARRIED" The Mayor gave a verbal report of his actions relative to the matter of the termination of employment of two members of the Public Works Department. He advised that the Town Solicitor Mr. Sims had written to the former employees' solicitor, Mr. Livingstone, and was awaiting his response. When the information is complete, the Mayor will make his report. . . .
