Committee of the Whole THAT the minutes of a meeting of the Committee of the Whole, dated April 12th, 1973, be approved as printed. "CARRIED" Councillor L. C. Mason abstained. Resolution #C-265-73 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Allison. Sale of Old Fire Hall THAT Resolution #CW-57-73 be rescinded and that the old Fire Hall be sold by tender. The highest or any tender not necessarily being accepted. "CARRIED" Flooding at Beach Area Mrs. A. THAT Couneil concur with the request of the Bowmanville Kinsmen Club dated April 7th, 1973, regarding parade and carnival on August 17th and 18th, 1973, and that the Chief of Police be advised and furthermore that the Club should be responsible for the cost of special Police services as requested. THAT the Town of Bowmanville will be responsible for 50% of the cost of new street lights at Highway 401 and Waverly Road interchange as per drawing #70l~109 and will also be responsible for 100% of all future costs including the power bill. THAT Council follow the suggestion contained in the letter dated April 16th, 1973, from the Town Solicitor regarding Barber Shop closing as per the last paragraph of the first page of said letter. RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Clerk-Administrator be authorized to sign a purchase agreement with Petrus Van Hoof and James Smith for 1.67 acres of land at a price of $5,845.00 covering part of original Township Lot 9, in the Broken Front Concession immediately west of Smart Avenue and on the south limit of the Base Line Road, with such agreement to contain an Option to the Purchaser to buy an additional 3.37 acres of land at - the same price of $3,500.00 per acre, within one year of the closing of the initial purchase. THAT Council concur with the report of the Clerk- Administrator dated April 16th, 1973, to delay the budget until more information is received regarding the Provincial Government aid to municipalities for the current year. THAT the Statement of Accounts for the period of March 29th to April 11th, 1973, in the amount of $79,524.52, be approved subject to Cheque #7621 being held until the Treasurer has submitted more details. WHEREAS an offer to purchase 5.16 acres of land on the south side of Base Line Road east of Simpson Avenue has been received from Mr. Gerald Bouchard at a price of $3,500 per acre. AND WHEREAS the offer to purchase contains agreement to construct 25,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing plant as soon as possible after closing and a further 25,000 sq. ft. of plant within one year of closing. - 6 - . THEREFORE be it resolved, that subject to the Town Solicitor checking the offer, the Mayor and Clerk be authorised to sign the acceptance of the offer and that a by-law to finalise the transaction be introduced to the next Council Meeting. Road Condition Behind Arena THAT the Town Engineer be requested to look into the condition of the road behind the Arena and also investigate reports of garbage being deposited behind the Arena.
