Minutes of the Inaugural Meeting of Council held in the Court Building on the above date at 8:00 p.m. Present: Mayor Reeve Deputy Reeve Councillor Ivan M. Hobbs James A. Bell Maurice Prout Lawrence Mason Don All in Norman Allison Paul Chant Mrs. Olive Cobban Mrs. Leola Thrasher All members of Council before entering upon their duties made and subscribed to a declaration of office and also oath of allegiance. Allin, seconded by Con. Allison. Ontario Hydro THAT the letter dated December 13th, 1972, from the Ontario Hydro regarding 500 kV transmission right of way be received for information. Bell Canada Agreement THAT Council concur with the recommendation of the Clerk- Administrator relative to a proposed agreement with Bell Canada regarding street openings and that the appropriate by-law be submitted for Councils consideration. THAT Council concur with the contents of a letter dated December 8th, 1972, from the Association of Municipalities of Ontario with regard to Bell Canada's request for rate increase. That the letter dated November 23rd, 1972, from Mr. William Bromell, of Jackman Road, relative to installation of street lights be referred to the Public Utilities Commission for their cormnents. THAT the Negotiating Committee and Clerk-Administrator be requested to prepare a brief to answer the letter dated December 22nd, 1972, from Mr. Hugh Crothers, Chairman of the Task Force of Policing in Ontario. THAT a letter be forwarded to Barber Shop businesses in Bowrnanville asking if they are satisfied with the hours as regulated by the present by-laws or what changes they would recommend. "CARRIED" . Bergmann, 33 Strike Avenue, complaining of snowmobiles in the area be referred to the Police with a request that the present by-laws be inforced and that the Police Chief be requested to advise of the number of complaints received with regard to snowmobiles. THAT the request contained in a letter dated December 14th, 1972, from the Township of Cartwright relative to useage of Dog Pound be concurred with for a trial period to see if it works out satisfactorily as far as the Town is concerned. THAT the letter dated December 15th, 1972, from the Bank of Montreal regarding borrowing by-law be dealt with in By-Laws. Cole's resignation from the Planning Board effective January 31st, 1973, be accepted and that a letter of thanks be sent to Mr. Cole for his services on the Planning Board. Allin be approved with the condition that Council would instal an 8 inch water connection to the property line and also connection to the sanitary sewer and storm sewer to the property line, and that a by-law be submitted for Council's consideration. THAT Council concur with the request contained in a letter dated December 18th, 1972, from the Knights of Columbus regarding sale of lottery tickets in the Town of Bowmanville.
