Paul Cooney appeared before Council relative to his requests to dispose of the Kings Court Town Houses as a condominium. He advised Council that Ministry of Ontario Housing had advised him that they would only subsidise 25% of his rental units, i.e. 4 units and he was not interested in that proposition. THAT the Regional Municipality of Durham and the Ontario Ministry of Housing be advised that the Town of Newcastle is prepared to use its best efforts to initiate and complete the necessary planning procedures and make building permits available that will produce approximately 4,950 housing units in the period 1975 to 1978 and approximately 11,950 housing units in the period following the year 1978 in the To,~ of Newcastle on the understanding that, (a) the appropriate sewage and water facilities will be constructed by the Region; (b) the Minister of Housing will make interest-free loans available to the Region under the Ontario Housing Action Program to assist in the financing of these facilities; (c) the Minister of Housing will enter into satisfactory fina.",cial arra."lgements with the Town. , . . .
