Minutes of a special meeting of Council held in the
Committee Room at Ilowmanville Town Hall on Monday,
June 23rd, 1975 at 4:10 p.m.
Present were: Mayor Garnet B. Rickard
Councillor Donald W. Allin
Mrs. Ann Cowman
Kirl: Entwisle
Ivan M. Hobbs
Kenneth E. Lyall
He Bruce Tink - left at 4: 30 p.m.

Moved by Con. Hobbs, seconded by Con. Entwisle.
THAT the attached Report of the Committee of the Whole
meeting on June 23rd, 1975 be adopted.

THAT the position of full time Fireman for No. 1 Fire
Hall be advertised and the applicant be interviewed by
the Personnel Committee.

THAT the Regional Municipality of Durh8lll and the Ontario
Ministry of Housing be advised that the T~rn of Newcastle
is prepared to use its best efforts to initiate and
complete the necessary planning procedures and make building
permits available that ~lill produce approximately 4,950
housing units in the period 1975 to 1978 and approximately
11,950 housing units in the period follOWing the year 1973
in the Town of Newcastle on the understanding that,
(a) the appropriate sewage and water facilities will be
constructed by the Region;

(b) the Minister of Housing will make iuterest-free loans
available to the Region under the Ontario Housing
Action Program to assist in the financing of these
facilities;
(c) the Minister of Housing will enter into satisfactory
financial arrangements with the Town.

Mayor Rickard and Members of Council:
The following recommendations were made by the Committee of the
Whole at a meeting held in the Committee Room at Bowmanvil1e Town Hall
on Monday, June 23rd, 1975 at 9:00 a.m.
1. Solandt Commission Report
THAT Council's previous position with regard to the Solandt Commission Report
be sustained and also that the Honourable Allan Grossman be advised of
Council's decision.
2. By-Law No. 69-75 - City of Oshawa
THAT a memorandum of obj ection to City of Osha~la By-Law No. 69-75 be prepared
by the Planner and addressed to the Ontario 11unicipal Board by the Tcn.m Clerk.
3. Proposed Oshawa Shoppinr, Centre
.
THAT the Mayor and Planner be requested to object to the proposed Shopping Centre
in the City of Oshawa at the Town Line with all possible vigour.
