August 11th, 1976
TOWN OF NEWCASTLE
Minutes of a special meeting of Council held in the
Bowmanville Council Chambers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday,
August 11th, 1976~

Councillor Donald W. Allin
Councillor Ann Cowman
Councillor Ivan M. Hobbs
Councillor Kenneth E. Lyall
Councillor H. Bruce Tink
The meeting had been called to discuss the position with
regard to repairs necessary to the Bowmanville and Newcastle
Arenas so that they could be open for the Winter Season.
Mr. Holliday, the Consulting Engineer, and Mr. Fanning, the
Recreation Director, were present to discuss the situation.
A number of residents from the former Village of Newcastle
also spoke on the matter.

THAT the Mayor call a meeting as soon as possible after
he has the necessary information, to expedite the matter.

August 11th, 1976
Mayor Rickard indicated that when the Council meets again
there should be sufficient information from three different
engineering firms of how they would approach the task of
reporting on how the arenas could be repaired and brought
up to proper standards to meet the Ministry of Labour
standards and that these three firms should be Leighton & Kidd,
Totten, Sims & Dubicki and Morrison, Harshfield and Burgess.
