THAT the Town Planner's Report dated December 15th, 1977 regarding severance effect of Lennox-Oshawa Transmission Line be received for information and referred to the Town Manager for investigation. THAT Item No. 9 of the foregoing Report be deleted and the fOllowing substituted: - "THAT the City of Oshawa be notified that the road reconstruction for that portion of the Townline Road proposed for reconstruction by the City of Oshawa, be at the cost of the Developer, and that, at the time of development of the abutting lands within the Town of Newcastle, reimbursement will be made to the Developer for that portion of the road within the limits of the Town of Newcastle, and further that the Town would be prepared to enter into an Agreement to this effect Idth the City of Oshawa." Dykstra, seconded by Con. Holliday. THAT the Toml Manager be authorized to call a meeting of the Liaison Committee to meet with Mr. D. Hardy regarding the 500 kV Corridor through the municipality and also taking into consideration the reports of the Staff regarding possible expropriation of free-hold land instead of easement for the corridor. "CARRIED" Mr. Ed Majer, Chairman of the Newcastle Village and District Arena Funding Organization Committee appeared before Council and presented a letter of commitment of $60,000 of funds acquired for this project and also a cheque for $30,000 payable on December 30th, 1977. Lovekin re Arenas - 13 - December 19th, 1977 WHEREAS there exists considerable duplication on the planning procedure, due to the number of committees dealing with the subject, and because of this fact, an unnecessary work load is placed on staff, causing delay and frustration to both applicant and Council, plus unnecessary expense to the Taxpayer; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that this Council dissolve the Planning Advisory Committee as of January, 1978, and deal more directly with these matters. THAT the Director of Public Works in co-operation with the Engineering Department prepare a report to Council including suggestions for location of proposed Arterial Road East of Bowmanville and also restaging and that we notify the Region that Council is not in conformity with the route chosen by them.
