Mr. Sawyer appeared before Council regarding the construction
of the Orono Arena and presented a brief. He indicated that
the contract price agreed on by the Building Committee was
$777,300 including sprinkler system. Further consideration of
this matter was referred to later in the meeting.

THAT the disposition of correspondence as recommended by the
Town Clerk be adopted, with the exception of Item No. 12.

2. Ontario Municipal Board dated September 8th, 1977 regarding
Board Order approving the construction of a skating arena
on Carolyne Street and Baldwin Street at an estimated cost
of $647,180., be received for information.
3. Swartz and Swartz dated September 12th, 1977 regarding
District Plan for the hamlet of Newtonville be referred to
the Planning Advisory Committee.
4. The Regional Municipality of Durham - Planning and Development
Department dated September 7th, 1977 regarding O.P.A. Application
Number 145 - Carl and Joseph Swartz be referred to the
Planning Advisory Committee.
5. The Peterborough-Yictoria-Northumberland and Newcastle Roman
Catholic Separate School Board dated September 9th, 1977
regarding Separate School Site, Block "A", Registered Plan
No. 705 formerly in the Town of Bowmanville be referred to
the Planning Administration Committee.
6. Ministry of Housing dated September 2nd, 1977 regarding Ridge
Pine Park Limited proposed Mobile Home Park, be referred to

recommendations for a reduced contract price for the Orono
Arena, be received for information.
10. Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority minutes of meetings
held on August 23rd and August 25th, 1977, be received for
information.
11. Lovekin and Ewert dated September 13th, 1977 regarding
proposed Newcastle Snior Citizens Lodge and the roll as the
Durham County Senior Citizens Lodge and the Newcastle Lions
Club and the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce be received for
information.
13. Lovekin & Ewert dated September 12th, 1977 regarding Lands

THAT the letter dated September 12th, 1977 from Lovekin and
Ewert regarding Part Lot 6 and 7, Block G, Orono, be referred
to the Public Works Committee for investigation of background
information.

Darcy McKeough regarding budget restraints be received for
information and that those members of Council and the Clerk and

possible, or another appropriate place in the future.

TBAT By-Law No. 77-61 passed by the Council of the Corporation
of the Corporation of the Town of Newcastle on the 18th day
of August, 1977 is in conformity with the Official Plan of
the former Town of Bowmanville and with the proposed Official
Plan of the Regional Municipality of Durham.

THAT Mr. Sawyer's letter of September 13th, 1977 be received
and it be recognized that commitments by the Or0no Fund
Raising Committee have been made to raise funds and to take

. WHEREAS Item No. 10 of the Finance Committee Report of
September 12th, 1977 states as follows:-
"It was recommended to Council that the letter dated September 9th,
1977 from Totten, Sims, Hubicki be received and that Council
agree with the contents and that the contractor be authorized
to proceed with drawings at fee not to exceed $6,000., and subject
to the contrac.tors letter dated September 9th, 1977."
THEREPORE BE IT RESOLVED that this action be subject to an
extension of the contract acceptance of seven days and that
this be advised to the contractor by telephone and followed up
by letter.

THAT Councillor Woodyard and Mr. Lovekin be requested to follow
up on the outstanding land transaction regarding the Orono
Arena property.

Councillor Dykstra commented on the recent O.~l.B. Hearing
regarding the development in the Court ice Area.

Newcastle.
