Bowmanville Public Works Committee August 19th/77 Newcastle Arena re Sprinkler System TOWN OF NEWCASTLE August 19th, 1977 Minutes of a special meeting of Council held in the Hampton Municipal Offices at 12:15 p.m. on Friday, August 19th, 1977. Present were: Mayor Councillor Garnet B. Rickard Donald W. Allin Robert Dykstra Alfred Gray Edward R. Woodyard Jasper W. Holliday R. Bruce Taylor Absent: Councillor Resolution #C-77-l24l Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Woodyard. THAT Council approve of the following Resolution passed by the Planning Administration Committee prior to the Council Meeting:- "THAT the application for rezoning be approved and that the applicants apply for a Minor Variance from the Committee of Adjustment for the two buildings they wish to construct immediately." "CARRIED" Resolution #C-77-l242 Moved by Con. Gray, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT the report of the Special Meeting of the Public Works Committee held on August 19th, 1977 be adopted. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-77-l23l which was referred by Council Meeting of August 18th, 1977 reads as follows:- "THAT the Labour Board be requested for permission to delete the requirement of sprinklers in the contract, subject to checking with the Insurance Company as to costs." On being put to a vote this Resolution was lost. Resolution #C-77-l243 Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Con. Woodyard. THAT the Treasurer submit a report to the next meeting of the Finance Committee regarding the financing of the sprinkler system. "CARRIED" . . . Council Minutes Mr. Brenton Rickard Council Meeting August 15/77 Next Meeting - 2 - August 19th, 1977 Resolution #C-77-l244 Moved by Con. Gray, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT the Sprinkler System be included in the contract for the building of the Newcastle Arena. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-77-l245 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Dykstra. THAT the matters raised by Mr. Rickard regarding removal of angle parking, broken culvert and settling of sidewalk be referred to the Public Works Committee. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-77-1246 Moved by Con. Woodyard, seconded by Con. Gray. THAT Mr. Rickard be asked to submit more detailed explanation of his request in a documented matter with regard to his water billing so that the Finance Committee can make a more detailed examination of his problem. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-77-l247 Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con. Woodyard. THAT the Treasurer be requested to send information regarding the grants for the Newcastle Co~~unity Hall to Mr. Rickard and also advise that financing is available and the project may be started. "CARRIED" Resolution #C-77-l248 Moved by Con. Dykstra, seconded by Con. Allin. THAT the next regular meeting of Council be held on Tuesday, September 6th, 1977 at 7:00 p.m. in Court Room No.1. "CARRIED" . . . Council Minutes Water Billings Arenas & Fire Hall s Adjoununent - 3 - Resolution #C-77-1249 Moved by Con. Gray, seconded by Con. Allin. August 19th, 1977 THAT the Treasurer check into the water billings with regard to all Arenas and all Fire Halls within the Town. Resolution #C-77-l250 "CARRIED" Moved by Con. Allin, seconded by Con.
